Yesterday we were in Amsterdam at the rooftopsymposium at KIT Tropenmuseum Amsterdam . The Rooftop Revolution was celebrating its 10th anniversary. On stage, among others, rooftoprevolution director Henk Tigelaar, greenroofexpert Eveline Bronsdijk ( Gemeente Rotterdam ), de Droominee, Jaap de Jong ( co-founder of the Rooftop Revolution ).

Olivia justo and Andre Baeta from the Bloomana from Portugal visiting the DakAkker rooftopfarm interviewing (co)founding father Emile Van Rinsum and various rooftopfarmers about our adventures on the roof of the Schieblock officebuilding downtown Rotterdam Central District. The rooftopfarmers from the DakAkker rooftopfarm in Rotterdam spent a volunteerweekend at the Maison Odilia orchard in the Ch*****ne region of France. They busily made fruit juice and jam from the abundant apples, pears, and plums. They also did some pruning and used the branches to build a sweat lodge, which was put to use right away. And, of course, there was plenty of delicious food and cake, plus campfires in the orchard in the evening.

Last Saturday, an enthusiastic group of students from the Environmental Sciences and Sustainability program at the University of Tsukuba, Japan visited the DakAkker #
rooftopfarm and they made the full XXL tour around the Schieblock, to the watersquare designed by Urbanisten and and ZOHO Rotterdam visiting the famoust ZOHO sign.

GARDEN BODDIES 🌼
Participation is free.
Specifically for young people aged 17 to 26. There is extra attention for young people who benefit from sensory de-stimulation, such as young people with ADHD, autism, or another form of neurodiversity.
Everyone is welcome. No experience is necessary, only curiosity about what connecting with nature can mean for you.

You choose one of the two groups and participate in all four workshops. The first three workshops take place at the DakAkker rooftopfarm in Rotterdam Central District.

🌿 Gardening and harvesting, harvest, eat, and discover what grows together, building and painting an insect hotel, weaving with natural materials, making your own perfume and smudges Get to work with herbs and plant-based oils and create your own scent under the guidance of the perfume atelier. Learn more about the effects of herbs from a herbalist and take your own herbal smudge home.

And a Nature Walk. You will go for a walk during a Hike & Space. With the help of headphones and music, you will experience nature in a new way. Organized by .
