Hosted in Studio 1, it will take place on April 5th, starting at 19:00.

Singers of the KC jazz department have poured their hearts and souls into preparing the repertoire.
This Vocal Night promises to be filled with original music written by the singers, with lots of warmth, and pure joy!

At KC Jazz, you won't only play music, but also create, record, and release your own music. Together with professionals like jazz trombonist Robin Eubanks, you develop in a versatile musician and be prepared for today's music industry.

Bart Suèr, the head of our jazz department, is very happy to have Robin join the team. He says:

'I’m very proud to have Robin Eubanks coming over to KC Jazz. Not only is he considered one of the most important trombonists of our time, with Eubanks compositions and longtime experience as a bandleader our students will get access to an enormous source of skills, music and artistry’.

We are extremely proud to announce that our Master Composition student Niccolò Angioni is nominated for this year's edition of the Black Pencil Price by Ensemble Black Pencil !!!

The winner of this competition will be announced on December 3rd at the Prix Annelie de Man in Het Orgelpark

📣Black Pencil Prize 2023 FINALISTS📣

Since 2018, Black Pencil organises an annual composition competition to support the creation of new music. We are very happy to receive such a broad spectrum of music for this edition from 13 different countries: China, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Ukraine, USA.

It is always a difficult job to select the finalists. Based on originality, expressiveness and sound world we have chosen the following composers:

* Niccolò Angioni (1992-Italy) : Unconscious Patterns
* Nikodem Kluczyński (1999-Poland): Black hole disco interference
* Ruud Roelofsen (1985-Netherlands): Wraith II

The winner of the Black Pencil Prize 2023 will be announced during the final concert of the Prix Annelie de Man on December 3rd in Orgelpark Amsterdam.

PRIZE:
* €2,000 in prize money
* A professional studio recording of the winning composition
* Performance of the piece during a selection of concerts of Black Pencil
* Additional prizes will be considered

Very proud of our master jazz vocals student Giulia Bättig who has won the FOCK medal for the best final presentation in the Royal Conservatoire The Hague!

Giulia performed her original compositions and arrangements, written for her 42-piece orchestra back on June 14, which has left the audience and the committee amazed and in awe.

Last week Giulia received her master diploma with a distinction for the Exceptional Artistry and we are very excited to see her next steps!

Monday, June 19 will be the last day of our final presentations at the jazz department. And we'll finish off with some class!
The bass day will start with the final bachelor concert of Spyros Socratous at 10:00, then we will continue with the final secondary subject jazz double bass presentation of our bachelor student Thor Johansen at 11:30, which will be followed up by his final main subject jazz e-bass presentation at 12:10. After that, 3 more final concerts are planned: at 14:00 - Snorri Skúlason and at 16:00 - Robert Stratmann, both will play their final bachelor concerts. Last but not least, Zalán Berta, our master e-bass student, will play his final performance at 20:30. All concerts in Studio 1, Amare and open to public!

This Wednesday, June 14 will be a very special day full of wonderful music all day long. We'll start with the three final bachelor jazz vocals presentations in the Conservatoriumzaal, Amare: 12:00 Stella Koutselou, 14:00 Björg Blöndal and 16:00 Sarah Raabe, all will play their final concerts, including their own arrangements and compositions. At 18:30, our master jazz vocals student Giulia Bättig will present her final master recital with a 44-piece ensemble in the Conservatoriumzaal as well. Last but not least: make sure to stick around for our first ever final master jazz composition presentation at 20:30, prepared by Stefano Gullo and played by his large ensemble in the Conservatoriumzaal, Amare. All these presentations are open to public, check them out!

Today, Wednesday, June 7, three talented bachelor jazz piano students will play their final presentations in Studio 1.
We start with Haeyeon Jang at 16:45 and then continue with Sujae Jung at 19:00 and Tibor Szilveszter at 20:30. Don't miss it, admission is free!
