Today is the start of the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) 2020, and the perfect opportunity to educate yourself and others about antimicrobial resistance!

Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), is the resistance of microbes (bacteria, fungi, parasites, viruses) to medicines such as antibiotics. AMR is mainly caused by misuse and overuse of antimicrobials and has been declared as one of the top 10 global health threats facing humanity by the WHO. Without urgent action, the global spread of AMR will lead to more infections becoming untreatable, and minor surgeries could become life-threatening. Click the links below for more information about AMR and WAAW 2020!
