BAIS Student OLC Student Members of the Educational Board (OLC), Leiden University, Humanities, International Studies Please, feel free to address anything. See you around BAIS!

This page serves to facilitate the communication between the current OLC Board of International Studies at Leiden University, The Hague and the Students. You can contact us (Anna Karisto, Annalena Pott, Florentina Tudose, Jin Sung and Viktor Blichfeldt) here. We'll do our best to contact the responsible person with your critique/comments (anonymously, if desired) and get back to you. Our main task

We can only try to tackle the problems in the program of our course if you let us know about them. Therefore, if you want to see change, don't complain on GSBS, but address it here!

Hello people!

We hope you all had a nice summer break and a good semester start. If you are attentively checking your umail, you might have already seen that OLC elections are coming up. Application deadline is the 25.09 and you can fill out the application form here: https://www.formdesk.com/universiteitleiden/fgw_kandidaatstelling_OLC).
Maybe you are wondering if and why you should apply to be part of the OLC, so here is a small recap on what the OLC does and what you can do:
The OLC is a committee consisting of 5 students and 5 staff members which is concerned with the quality of education in BAIS. We look over different kinds of evaluations and other forms of feedback and discuss how we can improve certain courses or the education in BAIS in general. We also have an advisory right to the program board and the faculty and give our opinions on i.e. the exam regulations, online education, etc.
As a student member, you get to take part in these discussions and, of course, you also get to bring up your own points. If you like discussions, have ideas on how to improve the education within BAIS, or simply want to get a better understanding of the possibilities and limitations to our education, you should apply!! :) Being on the OLC is not a big time investment (unless you have many points you want to work on), the people are very nice, and to non-corona times there are cookies at the meetings.
If you have any questions about the work of the OLC or you want to hear more about our experience, send us a dm 😊
Best,
Bhumika, Eveline, Gabriel, Mario, & Kim

Dear all 👋

For a year now a group of former OLC student members have been researching student mental health in the Hague campus to advise Leiden university on how to radically improve the current situation!
We produced a survey in May which many of you filled in and have been promoting the Wanna Talk About It campaign recently.

We are currently looking into outreach methods that help spread awareness and information of student support services 👇

If you have a moment, please fill out this survey and help us give the most accurate advice possible on how we can reach you! 😊

Please fill in the survey below. This research is being conducted as part of Leiden University's Student as Partners scheme, in addressing mental health/illnesses/disability provisions within Campus the Hague. Your mental health matters to Leiden University. Wanna Talk About It? 😊

👉After conducting a survey in May, as part of a Students as Partners project, we received a lot of suggestions regarding communication strategies carried out by Leiden University and how they could be improved. ✨

After meeting with the study coordinators of BAIS, student psychologists and counsellors, we launched the Wanna Talk About It campaign – a campaign dedicated to effectively communicating where students of Campus the Hague can find the resources that they need in difficult times.

🆘There is a lot of jargon used to describe mental health, but if you feel under too much pressure, overwhelmed, stressed, lonely, fatigued or have been diagnosed with a mental disorder, illness, disability or impairment; student support services are here to help! 🤝

These are people that can support you: 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
🔺 Study Coordinators (stuco’s): Stucos don’t just advise with the academic side of student life but also personal issues, including student health and well-being. If you are unsure of which service to contact, first go to your Stuco.
🔺 Student Psychologists: The student psychologists can offer assistance and advice in both study-related and personal situations, including but not exclusively mental health related issues.
🔺 Student Counsellors/Fenestra Centre: Student counsellors of the Fenestra Disability Centre provide support for students studying with an ‘exceptional circumstance’ such as a mental or physical disabilities, illnesses, disorders or impairments. You can also make an appointment with the counsellors regarding legal implications that come with disabilities/illnesses in relation to your coursework and exams.

This is the kick-off of the Wanna Talk About It campaign. Please feel free to share this message with your peers and friends at Leiden University.🥰
