Hello everyone! My name is Luis, I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, and I also hold Spanish nationality. I am currently in my fourth year at HTH, where I am completing my LYCAR internship at Unilever within the Employer Branding team.

Working at Unilever has been an incredible experience so far, as it has given me the opportunity to truly use my creativity in a professional environment. As part of my role, I create engaging content for Unilever Careers Benelux, showcasing the company’s culture, people, and what it’s really like to work at a global company. My goal is to highlight how dynamic, inspiring, and fun working in a corporate environment can be. Swipe to see some of my work! 💙

One skill I have definitely taken from HTH into my internship is communication. HTH has taught me how to collaborate effectively, think creatively, and confidently present ideas, all of which have helped me during my internship experience.

This internship has helped me better understand what I want for my future and confirmed my passion for creative marketing and employer branding, while helping me grow both personally and professionally. I’m excited to see what the future holds and how this journey continues. 🚀

HTH at Millésime 2026 🍇

Three students, together with one of our instructors, had the pleasure of representing the HTH at this year’s Millésime 2026 competition. The theme, “Vina Mundi,” brought together wines from across the globe as eight top universities faced a blind tasting of 10 wines and a challenging theory exam. 🍷✍️

Lisa Klunker, Thijmen de Boer, and Thom Koole showed impressive dedication throughout the event and even without reaching the finals, the experience was incredibly rewarding. The day ended with a beautiful gala dinner and a visit to the stunning Lavaux region - a perfect finish to an inspiring competition.

A heartfelt thank‑you to EHL and the Millésime Lausanne team for the warm hospitality and unforgettable experience. See you next year! 👋

From vineyard to glass 🍇

Our Gastronomy Abroad trip took Hotelschool The Hague students to Mainz for the VDP Weinbörse, where they explored Germany’s top wine regions, visited leading wineries, and tasted the newest vintages, including pre-release Grosses Gewächs 🥂

The highlight: connecting with 200+ VDP producers and experiencing the classification system with a masterclass!

Next up: students will capture their insights in a professional magazine to share with our partners✍️📖

Throwback to Family Day on campus Amsterdam! 🎉📹

At Hotelschool, Family Day is a tradition where our first-year students invite their families to spend a memorable day together on campus. 🫶🏼

Students organise and manage the entire event: They prepare the decorations, transforming the campus to match the theme of the day and create a welcoming atmosphere.

The students plan, cook, and present a variety of delicious dishes that demonstrate the culinary skills they have gained throughout practical education in the first year. 👩‍🍳🍽️

"Hi! My name is Cathelijne Burger, I am 19 years old and I’m from the Netherlands. I am currently in my second year at HTH and have recently completed my practical placement at Cheval Blanc Paris. 🇫🇷

During my internship, I worked behind the bar of Langosteria, an Italian fine dining restaurant group with a location in the hotel. 🦞 I was involved in daily bar operations and the delivery of high-level guest service in a fast-paced luxury environment. I learned to prepare classic cocktails as well as Langosteria’s original recipes, and even had the opportunity to create my own cocktail. 🍸

Over time, I became increasingly confident working independently during service and anticipating guest needs. Through dedicated effort over six months, I gained professional fluency in French, confidently interacting with both guests and colleagues in a high-end hospitality environment.

Cheval Blanc Paris is a five-star, three Michelin Key–awarded hotel located in the heart of Paris. Throughout my time there, I was consistently impressed by the level of precision, attention to detail and professionalism across all departments. Working within this environment required discipline, adaptability, and a strong sense of responsibility, besides giving me first-hand experience of the standards in luxury hospitality. ✨

Looking back, this internship was both demanding and highly rewarding. It strengthened my professional foundation, contributed to my personal growth, and confirmed my ambition to continue developing myself during my studies and pursue a career in hospitality!”

"My name is Lotte Huesmann, I am 21 years old, and I am from the Netherlands. I just returned from my second year practical placement at Huka Lodge in Taupō, New Zealand as an F&B intern. 👩‍🍳

I had an amazing time there, working in a high end luxury lodge. I learned about different leadership styles, the importance of creating a flawless experience for our guests with great attention to detail, and working with industry professionals that showed me their reasoning behind their day to day decisions. I used the formats and theories I learned in the leadership skills classes we had in year one on a daily basis. These skills helped me thrive in a team with colleagues from all over the world. 🌍

As I had my own car in New Zealand, I traveled the country every weekend I had. Traveling through New Zealand on my own taught me more about myself than I ever thought possible. It taught me that the most incredible experiences usually come to you when you stop planning every second of every day. I have met incredible people, and I have seen the most unreal places. Kiwi's are the kindest people you will ever meet, and New Zealand has beautiful beaches, mountains, and waterfalls. ✨"

Last week, our HTH Alumni community came together in Berlin for a vibrant evening of connection, conversation, and new encounters.

Our president Jos Vranken joined the gathering and shared a few words with the alumni, adding a thoughtful touch to the evening.

A big thank you to Olivia Meisner and Anna Meijles for organising the event, and to Andre Möller, Jonas Jost, and the team at the Luzii Hotel & Restaurant for hosting with such care. 🙏

With ITB Berlin drawing hospitality professionals from across Europe, it was the perfect moment to reunite familiar faces, welcome new alumni, and connect with HTH representatives.
