At the 2026 Wave Field Synthesis Festival, organised by the Institute of Sonology, composers presented new works created specifically for the WFS system. Sonology teacher Ji Youn Kang and students Solyoub and Seolbeen reflect on working with spatial sound and the creative possibilities it opens up.

On her 80th birthday, Vera Beths bids farewell as a teacher at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. For more than forty years, she trained generations of violin students, many of whom went on to become leading musicians. This festive afternoon is dedicated to her musical legacy.

On Thursday 28 May, Futures of Listening launches at the 4DSOUND studio in Amsterdam. Art of Sound at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague is one of the founding partners of this new platform, which brings together artists, researchers, developers and institutions working in the field of immersive spatial sound.

The launch marks the start of a long-term collaboration focused on the future of listening and sound-centred immersive experiences.

Alongside Art of Sound, the initiative was founded by FIBER Festival, 4DSOUND and Robin Koek.

Four young composers present new acoustic works in this special KC Lab preprogramme at Korzo.

Ahead of the evening concert In Bloom, we present a mini edition of KC Lab. During this short programme, students from the Composition Department share new acoustic works, performed together with students from the instrumental departments.

Featuring music by Gustav Spoormaker, Gintare Valionyte, Viktor Semius and Lingyuan Yang.

Art of Sound student David takes you inside Installation XL: a collaboration with students from the KABK and the Residentie Orkest. Using recordings of Gershwin’s An American in Paris as a starting point, the team created immersive audiovisual worlds, from drone landscapes to granular textures, placing you right inside the orchestra.
