Message from Dimitrie Leivici - Chairman of the Board

Since we have introduced the new HMW leadership with our exciting transfer to The Hague/Netherlands my role with Hollywood Music Workshop, requires me to respond to several statements and inquiries from our followers.
I will remain in a somewhat similar position as before, namely as the artistic advisor and director as well as the liaison to Hollywood and responsible for the implementations of the course material and also a somewhat directive for the fulfillment of HMW’s mission, as we set out years ago but with the realization of the awareness of today’s “Zeitgeist”!

In this role I will be assisting Michiel de Boer, our new director and will continue working with him to make sure that HOLLYWOOD MUSIC WORKSHOP - the next generation remains the ultimate positive environment for any upcoming composer to learn and study with the best and to immerse themselves fully into this one of a kind creative atmosphere, for which our workshop is known all over the world!
Our cooperation will encompass all future European as well as American endeavors on a highly educational level!

A New Chapter Begins: Michiel de Boer Named Director of Hollywood Music Workshop.

We are very happy to welcome Michiel de Boer as the new Director of Hollywood Music Workshop.

Michiel is a conductor and orchestrator with 25 years of experience as a musician and conductor. Throughout his career, he has combined professionalism and artistic excellence with a strong commitment to education, talent development, and collaboration.

He believes in creating an environment where people can grow, learn, and bring out the best in one another. That makes him a wonderful fit for Hollywood Music Workshop, where music, creativity, and connection are at the heart of everything we do.

With Michiel as Director, we look forward to an inspiring new chapter built on experience, trust, and shared passion.

Dear friends, participants and followers of HOLLYWOOD MUSIC WORKSHOP!

Since many of you have been aware for some time now about our upcoming planned move from our old location Baden/Austria to our new event location The Hague/Netherlands it’s very important to acknowledge our appreciation and thanks to all the folks and entities who have made us so successful and renowned over the last eighteen years to folks like you from all over the world.

NO ONE deserves more appreciation and gratitude than our beloved Austrian director, organizer and original founder LILO BELLOTTO!

I myself got inspired to work together with her on organizing HMW after describing to her the highly professional procedure involved in creating a Hollywood movie score.
Together with her and one of our first lecturers-Don Williams (brother of John William), our first event took place in the summer of 2009 in the picturesque town of Klosterneuburg at the outskirts of Vienna/Austria.
From the onset on it became clear, that without her complete dedication, organizational efforts and tireless hard work in planning and executing the workshop, it just wouldn’t happen.
Whether it was ensuring the availability of toilet paper and paper towels in the bathrooms all the way to organizing the order of participants during the recording sessions and keeping an eye on the financial aspects, including the final bureaucracy necessary to keep the books up to date and all of that carried out with her lovely and charming smile!

Lilo’s contributions are too numerous to describe at this moment, suffice to say that she carried the brunt of duties while most of my involvement had to do with, aside from my artistic output, if and when someone stepped out of line and I was forced to intervene, hence our self described title War and Peace ( even though I considered myself peaceful had to settle for the title War)

It is therefore only fair to understand her reasoning, after so many years of being so heavily involved in such a sometime tedious organizational process, that the time has come to listen to your body and mind and agree to leave when you feel it’s the right thing to do.

Dearest LILO, my old friend from our youth days,
I could have never imagined or dreamed of how much we have achieved after so many years of hard and dedicated work involving so many different aspects of this successful endeavor.
Whether you organized the course schedules, managed the numerous public performances and concerts (including the live event during COVID in the Badener Kurpark) your professionalism based on your own life experiences as a former musical star with stage performances all over Europe, all of it is proof of your numerous achievements!

For HMW to be able to move on to another internationally renowned location, it’s definitely your merit as well.
We will miss your organizational skills, dedication and leadership but luckily you will still be part of our existence on an advisory level and with hope to be able to tap into your expertise when need arises!

All of us at HMW hope you had a great and wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to a healthy and prosperous 2026!
As you maybe have noticed, we have been somewhat quiet in the last few months with announcements and have hinted at some surprising developments coming up.
We are happy and proud to announce at this time the move from our usual Austrian location of Baden (17 years residency) to The Hague, the Netherlands!

The workshop will also be held under the name “Hollywood Music Workshop - The Next Generation”, courtesy of our honorary dean Conrad Pope, who came up with this appropriate descriptive title!

It also signals our commitment to present our international participants with according to the “Zeitgeist”( AI, newest innovations , technology inseparable from life and the workplace, etc.) the absolute current state of educational material as a preparation for a successful career as a media composer, be it film music, video, documentary, etc.

We will provide you with additional information such as our new board of directors, signing up, exact dates and the names of our top notch faculty members from Hollywood, who will include numerous award winning personalities from the entertainment capital of the world!
