🇺🇬TRIBEZ × Matinza Project 🇺🇬

28th of May of THUAS

This week we’re coming together for a cause close to our hearts. Matinza Primary School in Kisoro, Uganda is home to 940 students — but years of neglect have left its classrooms and sanitation facilities in serious disrepair, affecting both the kids’ health and their learning.

We’re raising money to:
🚽 Renovate 3 old latrines (11 stalls)
🧼 Build proper handwashing facilities
🌧️ Set up a rainwater harvesting system for clean, drinkable water

Two ways to get involved:
🧁 Bake Sale — 28th of May @ in front of THUAS— Ugandan-themed goodies for a good cause

🏃 Matinza Run for Water — 30th of May @ UWC Maastricht — a charity run with routes for every year group. Parents welcome to join! Scan the QR code to sign up.

Every mandazi, every step, every shilling counts. Let’s show up for Matinza. 💛🖤❤️

✨ Inspiring Women – Final Part: Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler

For Women’s Month, we close our series by honoring women who broke barriers and changed history⛓️‍💥

Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the first Black woman physician in the United States, paved the way for generations in medicine. From caring for underserved communities to advocating for health equity, her impact continues to be felt today🔈

Her story is a reminder that resilience, knowledge, and compassion can create lasting change

As we end this series, we celebrate all women—past and present—who inspire, lead, and uplift🙌🏽

✨ Inspiring Women Part 2 – Tems

For Women’s Month, we continue celebrating women making a global impact.

Tems, a self-taught artist from Nigeria, is redefining music on her own terms—authentic, powerful, and unapologetically herself. From writing and producing her own sound to collaborating with some of the world’s biggest artists, she represents a new generation of African creatives.

Her journey proves that you don’t have to change who you are—the world can rise to meet you.

Election day is tomorrow in the Netherlands 🗳️

Municipal elections shape everyday life in your city more than you might think. Local councils make decisions about things like student housing, nightlife policies, and public study spaces.

Your vote helps decide who represents your community and what priorities shape your city.

If you’re eligible to vote, don’t miss the chance to make your voice heard!!

🔈 And remember, internationals too can vote!

✨ Inspiring Women episode 1 – Wangari Maathai

For Women’s Month, we highlight inspiring women who have made a lasting impact.

Wangari Maathai, environmental activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, founded the Green Belt Movement and empowered thousands of women to plant millions of trees, restoring land and protecting the environment.

“It’s the little things citizens do. That’s what will make the difference.”

Voting in the Dutch Municipal Council Elections is easier than you think! 🗳️

On March 18, 2026, residents across the Netherlands will choose their local representatives. Your vote helps shape decisions about housing, education, transportation, and more in your municipality.

💪🏾Good news: you don’t have to be Dutch to vote! Many international residents can participate in municipal elections if they are registered with their municipality. This means your voice matters too!

Swipe through to learn how the voting process works and what you need to bring.
Let’s make sure every vote counts🔥

🖤 Black History Month – Closing Tribute

Today we honor Marcus Garvey, leader, activist, and champion of Black unity.

Born in Jamaica, Garvey built a global movement rooted in Black pride, self-determination, and collective power. His message reached far beyond his lifetime — inspiring generations to reclaim their history, identity, and strength.

Unfortunately, with this post, we close our Black History Month tribute for this year. We hope our interviews and features have inspired and empowered you — reminding you that our story is one of resilience but most importantly innovation, and legacy. 🤎

The conversation doesn’t end here. More powerful content is on the way — keep watching this space 👀✨
