Earlier this month, the Grotius Centre was proudly represented by several colleagues at the Twenty-fourth session of the Assembly of States Parties of the International Criminal Court. Through side-events, plenary sessions, and more, members of the Centre actively contributed to key discussions on international criminal justice:

Director Prof. Daniëlla Dam-de Jong participated in a panel on the occasion of the launch of the ICC's Office of the Prosecutor new Policy on Addressing Environmental Damage Through the Rome Statute. She represented the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's World Commission on Environmental Law during the same.

PhD Candidate Emre Acar participated as delegate of Liechtenstein at the ASP plenary sessions, particularly on the issue of non-cooperation and sanctions against the Court, considering his PhD research on the role of the ASP in responding to state resistance.

Prof. Larissa van den Herik played a leading role in several side events on international justice. She acted as chair of a session on advancing a Crimes Against Humanity Convention, side-event discussant on reforming the crime of aggression regime, and as panel moderator on restorative justice and the ICC.

Prof. Carsten Stahn launched a new open access volume on Quality Control in Fraud and Corruption Investigations as part of a CILRAP Panel on Frontiers of International Criminal Law and Justice. The book is part of the Quality Control Project, involving discussions on the interplay between atrocity crime and financial crime.

Assistant Prof. Letizia Lo Giacco was a speaker at the event 'The Evolving Role of NGOs in international courts and tribunals: Limits and opportunities', where she presented her study on the consolidating institutionalization of NGOs at the ICC.

PhD Candidate Joni Van Laeken spoke alongside Dr. Lo Giacco, reflecting on the central role of NGOs as implementing partners in the Trust Fund for Victims' reparations and assistance mandates.

The Grotius Centre continues its long-standing tradition as a leading hub for international law scholarship and engagement, and looks forward to contributing meaningfully to future Assemblies of States Parties.
