Open source leeft door wederkerigheid – en OS-SCi toont hoe! Op 𝟭𝟲–𝟭𝟳 𝗺𝗲𝗶 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 vindt in Tilburg de 𝗟𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗶 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 plaats, een gratis event voor studenten die gepassioneerd zijn door open-source mobiele ontwikkeling. Met keynotes van 𝗠𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹 (projectleider Lomiri UI) en 𝗘𝗿𝗶𝗸 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝘀 (onthult het Lomiri Bounty Program) krijgen deelnemers praktische ervaring en gratis exemplaren van Lomiri App Development Level 1 & 2.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝘀 𝗦𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲
Digital sovereignty is one of the most pressing issues of our time. Europe aims for independence from American and Chinese tech giants, but the transition to true digital autonomy remains slow. Technologically, alternatives like open-source software and decentralized platforms are abundant. Yet, individuals, organizations, and governments often cling to proprietary systems. Why?
The answer lies in the 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿: ingrained habits, fear of change, lack of knowledge, and the illusion of convenience. Consider the lock-in effect of platforms like X (formerly Twitter), where public figures stay despite its flaws. Or the fear of losing visibility, and the false sense of sovereignty offered by companies like Microsoft and SAP.
Fortunately, organizations like 𝗢𝗦-𝗦𝗖𝗶 are leading the way—not just advocating for open source, but providing practical solutions. Through education, collaboration, and advocacy, OS-SCi helps individuals and organizations make the switch. Initiatives like the FOSS Career Fund Foundation and events like the Lomiri Tech Meeting demonstrate how to overcome human barriers.
The technology and tools are here. Now, it’s up to us to take the leap—with leadership, vision, and a willingness to embrace short-term discomfort for long-term gains.
