SPC Creative Business

SPC Creative Business Official Page of the SPC CB from the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU). Every study program has such a committee.

- Students for students -

The SPC ICM is the official Study Program Committee of ICM at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht and has been created in 2008. Our mission is to give students a voice by communicating with the faculty’s management regarding HU’s internal and external activities. We are thus the connection between students and ICM's management. Our main task is to provide advi

ce on how to improve the study program in order to raise the quality of ICM. Our activities concern all years and includes the evaluation of the content and structure of various courses. Another example of our activities is the evaluation of the communication between teachers and students. The SPC should hold 6 official members, preferably from various cultural backgrounds and different stages of the program. This is to form a good representation of ICM’s student population. Is something bothering you in ICM and do you have proposals for improvement? Don't hesitate to approach us and we will do our best to improve our study program!

Hey peeps!

You probably also received an email about a survey about the housing situation for students. We would kindly remind you to fill out the survey to improve this not-so-great-situation for all the current and future students:

Dear student,

As a student you are looking for pleasant, affordable and safe housing in the city you are studying in. This may sound simple, but things are different in practice. If you want get your own room in your student city you are dealing with waiting times, high rent and (too) small rooms at locations you would actually prefer not to live. The student housing providers are doing something about this. They will be constructing affordable student rooms at locations where you do want to live and take your housing needs into account.

Survey
We conduct a survey to find out how many students will be studying where in the coming years and how these students want to live. This survey is carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs, colleges and universities. If you really want to change something about the housing for students, then please cooperate with this survey using your computer or smartphone.

Participation
To participate you can click on the following link: www.wonenalsstudent.nl
The questionnaire consists of about 40 questions and takes about 10 minutes. You can also fill in the questionnaire using your smartphone. City trips to a destination of your own choosing (worth 400 euros) will be raffled among participants of the survey.

How will your answers be used?
The result of the housing needs survey will be processed along with information from other sources in the monitor student housing. Thanks to this monitor we know how many students will be living in the student cities in the upcoming years and especially how they would like to live. This knowledge is used to determine the required number and type of student houses per student city and then adjust the building plans for the coming years.

How will I be kept up to date with the results?
The questionnaire will remain active up to April 26. After the summer the result will become available on the website www.wonenalsstudent.nl

Thank you!!

Hey Peeps :)

We got one awesome tip for you: you can already register for your resits in Blocks D and E.

Here's how it works:
In order to register for a resit, you do not have to wait for the result of your first opportunity. You can register for a resit now, just to be on the safe side. If you do get a pass for the first exam opportunity, you will be automatically deregistered for the resit.

Have a lovely end of your week!

Exciting news for our building at Heidelberglaan 15!
Some time has passed since then, BUT, at the end of last year, our new building has received the BREEAM label.

BREEAM? BREEAM is the instrument for measuring and assessing the sustainability of new buildings, existing buildings, areas and demolition projects integrally.
This being said, HL15 is qualified at the highest level of sustainability, and received the level "outstanding"!

The building scores high on all categories and in particular on the use of solar panels on the roofs, the warmth-cold Storage, the plants on the roof, the elevators and the escalators - but also HU-wide contributions such as mobility policy and waste separation. All these matters have been taken into account and have yielded points.

Our SPC team is super happy about that! :)

Hello Peeps!

We have some information for you to be up to date:

A lot of students told us that they were quite unhappy with their schedules, so the SPC took action!
We looked at all the schedules from Year 1 and Year 2, and took notes about long gaps in between gaps, only late classes etc. Then, we forwarded this information to the management in the hope that schedules in the future will be better for us!

However, do you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement? If so, comment or send us a DM! Remember, we always want to hear your ideas about improvement or feedback/opinions in general.

Your SPC :)

P.S.: Did you already see our NEW logo? Soooo cooool!

Dear students,

We would like to announce the following: Upcoming Thursday 14th of feb there will be an honours meeting! This means that interested students can join and discover what the options are within honours education. Many students wonder what’s in there for them. What is honours education? Why would you do it? These questions can be answered on Thursday, but first a short list of what the pro’s could be of following an honours track during your studies.

1. Self-development and personal growth
2. Learning skills you don’t learn during normal education (leadership for example)
3. You earn stars. Each star resembles 140 hours of hard work, five stars means you will graduate as an honours student, this looks great on your degree (BA With Honours)
4. From all University of Applied Sciences students in Netherlands, only 5,3% follows excellence programmes
5. CB students are all about differentiating yourself and defining your OWN personal brand, honours courses/initiatives are one of the ways to do so
6. Employers are more willing to hire an honours student, doing extra work shows you have dedication and passion for your field and environment

And plenty of other reasons!
Are you willing to excel yourself? Come and join the honours meeting on feb 14 in room 3.070 HL15 at 11.30 - 13.00

Further questions can be asked below, or send an email to our CB student honours representative
[email protected]

See you then!
