Urios is the Utrecht study association for International and European law. The association was founded in 1981 and has about 300 members, both Dutch and International students. The main goal of Urios is to introduce students to International and European law on a more practical level. The association organizes many activities and two symposia per year with great speakers. Every month there is a sp

ecial activity such as a debate evening, a lecture or a visit to a place of special interest for law students, such as, for example, the International Court of Justice, Europol or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Every year Urios organizes two excursions abroad, one within Europe and one outside Europe. In the past members have been to places like Brussels, Bangkok, New York, Armenia and India. Furthermore, Urios publishes its own journal on International and European Law, the "Utrecht Journal of International and European Law" or UJIEL for short. This peer-reviewed online English periodical appears bi-annually. Upcoming events are announced in the newsletter, which appears monthly. For those who would like to get a taste of diplomacy Urios has its own Model United Nations Society called, which provides workshops and attends two to three MUN conferences a year. Last, but certainly not least, are the bi-monthly member drinks where board, members and friends meet, talk, drink and socialize at café ‘t Pandje. We welcome all students who are interested in International and/or European Law, and who wish to participate in or organize activities in this field. It is not required that you are an International and/or European Law student. As a member or friend (a Urios alumnus) you will receive preference and discount on all activities organized by Urios, the newsletter and a free drink at the monthly members drink.

Van klimaatzaak tot TikTok-claim – ben jij erbij?

Collectieve acties zijn hot. Van klimaatzaken tot claims tegen grote platforms zoals TikTok: steeds vaker worden juridische middelen ingezet om ESG-doelen te bereiken. Maar hoe werkt dat eigenlijk in Nederland? En wat zijn de nieuwste ontwikkelingen?

Tijdens Stibbe Talks duiken we in de wereld van ESG en collectieve acties. Je krijgt inzicht in de mogelijkheden binnen het recht én hoort praktijkvoorbeelden van experts.

DIES WEEK RECAP 🎊

As part of our 45th anniversary lustrum, we hosted a series of inspiring events bringing together students, professionals, and alumni.

We started with our Recruitment Dinner, where ambitious students had the opportunity to connect directly with leading law firms AKD and Hogan Lovells in an informal and engaging setting.

We then continued with our Alumni Event, where we had the privilege of bringing together 45 years of Urios history by reuniting former boards for a warm and celebratory evening.

We concluded our Lustrum with our yearly Career Event, creating a pathway for ambitious students to explore their future careers through insightful sessions by ASML, UNICEF, the Special Residual Court for Sierra Leone, and the ICC, opened by Pauline Phoa.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making these events such a success!

A Board Year at Urios is a parttime function, which means you will not have to delay your studies to take up a role in the Board.
