Have you ever wondered “What's next after my PhD? Could I find a job outside of academia, and if yes where?” Lucky for you, at the PE&RC Career Committee we organize our annual company visits where you can get the chance to learn about your potential future employers.



This time, we will visit Campina on the WUR Campus to learn about the company and its efforts in making the dairy industry more sustainable. Our keynote speaker, Modernel obtained his PhD degree at in the field of Livestock Farming Systems. He also worked as a postdoc before embarking on his journey with Campina as a Farming Systems Research Specialist. Pablo will talk about his current role at the company and share his personal story of finding a job outside of academia. Along with Pablo, two other alumni, Dresselhuis Manager Expert Team Farm, Milk & Sustainability, and Heck Milk Expert, both with 15+ years of work experience at Campina will tell us more about the company and the roles they fulfill there.

PE&RC mushroom walk: autumn 2022
With autumn in full swing, it is time to get in touch with our inner mycologists. So this time we organise PE&RC walk with a fungal twist! Wednesday, October 19th all PE&RC members are welcome to join us on a guided mushroom expedition through the forests near Wageningen with fungal experts and WUR professors Duur Aanen and Thom Kuijper.

We will start gathering in front of Radix at 15:30 and set out at 15:40 towards Oranje-Nassau’s Oord, where we will arrive around 16:00. From there we will spend ~2 hours in the forest.
We should arrive back at campus ~18:00-18:30, well before it gets dark.
The focus won’t be on a specific route this time, but rather on enjoying and exploring the fungal biodiversity on display in the forest this time of year.

Symposium on Progress in Remote Sensing of Photosynthesis!

In this workshop on 18 May, we want to provide an overview of current progress in remote sensing systems, methods and modelling approaches to measure and monitor photosynthesis of agricultural and natural ecosystems at different scale levels. We hope this also will provide input for the discussion on the link between remote sensing and crop and plant sciences and the identification of future research priorities.
