Social media influencers play an important role in our lives. Their posts can promote and persuade us to start va**ng, drink alcohol, eat (un)healthy food, and buy new products. This thesis topic aims to gain insights into what and how influencers communicate on social media. (Master) Thesis students are given the unique opportunity to investigate influence content on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube using the Influencer Monitor Tool developed by the Reclame Code Commissie.

GCMF in cooperation with GKMT have offered various training in Organic farming and general Agriculture to small scale farmers and young people in the Mpongwe district. GKMT has drawn up various documents and has collected evaluation data at various moments in the training process.

Is there any fundamental philosophical – epistemological, ontological, etc. – limitation to the appropriation of digital technologies by indigenous groups? We are looking for a student who will work on this case study which will entail qualitative research.

What information and support tools are effective in improving the yields obtained by women farmers? In this study, the student will be involved in a season-long experiment with the group of women as well as men farmers who are implementing adaptive experiments. The student will be hosted by the International Rice Research Institute-Cambodia and this study is linked to the Excellence in Agronomy Initiative (CGIAR).

There are farmers that are able to diversify their cropping systems into rice-watermelon, rice-vegetables, rice-mungbean, rice-fish, rice-prawn, etc. (for climate resilience, livelihood or other reasons), but many rice farmers in Cambodia, limit their cropping to rice-rice systems. How do farmers make decisions about crop diversification? This study is linked to the Asian Mega Deltas initiative (CGIAR).

How does the ecology of the landscape (e.g. polyculture or intercropping, agroecological practices, presence of forest areas nearby) influence the spread rate of the disease? In the last decade, the bacteria Xylella fastidiosa has decimated the olive trees population in Salento, the Southern part of the Italian region of Apulia. Most of the initial studies have been mostly focusing on the pathogen-host-insect vector interaction.

What are the existing agromet advisory systems and tools that are being deployed in the Tonle Sap Region of Cambodia? How are these used by farmers? Are there (dis)benefits for specific types of farmers (men, women, youth, landless, etc)? This study is linked to the project on promoting climate resilient livelihoods in the Tonle Sap of IRRI (International Rice Research Institute) in Cambodia.
