Why do medicated oils play such an important role in Ayurveda? 🌿
In Ayurveda, a taila is much more than simply a massage oil. Herbs are processed into oil according to specific preparation methods, creating a therapeutic formulation that can be selected according to factors such as dosha, treatment area and the srotas involved.
On Saturday, 10 October, Vd. Sayali Kendarkar (BAMS) will explore the use of tailas in relation to Mano Vaha Srotas – the Ayurvedic system associated with manas: our thinking, feelings, emotions and responses to sensory input.
The relationship with Vata Dosha and Prana Vata is especially important here. From an Ayurvedic perspective, restlessness, overstimulation, disturbed rhythms and sleep problems are therefore not viewed only from a mental perspective, but in relation to the interaction between body, nervous system, breathing, lifestyle and mental processes.
Sayali will discuss, among other topics:
• the role different tailas can play
• why oil, warmth, touch and snehana are particularly important for Vata
• Abhyanga, head massage and Shirodhara
• Mano Vaha Srotas and its relationship with breathing
• herbs and Ayurvedic remedies
• Marma chikitsa
• yoga and especially pranayama
• diet, lifestyle and Panchakarma
A practical and in-depth study day for those who want to better understand Ayurvedic oil therapy and learn how it can be applied in a more targeted way.
