🇳🇵 Representing Nepal on the Global Stage: Support Ar. Priyanka Karn 🇳🇵🌍

Our distinguished alumna, Ar. Priyanka Karn (published researcher and Tribhuvan University batch topper), has been selected to present her research on Climate-Resilient Housing at IDEAS 2026—an international symposium co-organized by Queen’s University, Canada, and IIT Roorkee, India.

She is currently running a crowdfunding campaign to cover her travel and participation expenses for this opportunity to represent both Nepal and our campus internationally. With only around 10% of the target funds raised and limited time remaining, every small contribution makes a huge impact.

From Schematic to Hardware: Wrapping up Day 4 of PCB Design Training! 🚀

Thrilled to conclude our 4-day PCB Designing Training on a high note! Today, we walked through the complete lifecycle of creating a physical single-layer PCB using the Toner Transfer Method.

Our students took their digital 555 Timer Circuit layouts, transferred them onto copper-clad boards, etched away the excess with chemicals, and watched their custom traces come to life.

Seeing the transition from a schematic editor to a fully realized 3D model and physical board is always the most rewarding part of teaching.

A huge shoutout to all the participants for their dedication over the last 4 days. The future of hardware design is in great hands! 💻⚡

There is nothing quite like a hands-on learning experience to make engineering concepts stick! 🧠💻

We used KiCad to design a 555 Timer Circuit from scratch.

We kicked off with schematic captures, advanced through manual routing and track optimization, and wrapped up with full 3D renders to ensure everything is perfectly placed for manufacturing.
Watching the progression from Day 1 to Day 3 has been an amazing experience—props to all the participants for their hard work and sharp problem-solving skills! 🛠️🔌

Moving from Breadboards to Permanent Circuitry! ⚡

Thrilled to have wrapped up Day 2 of our PCB Designing & Electronics training session, focusing on Matrix Board (Veroboard) Circuit Implementation and Precision Soldering.

While breadboards are great for quick prototyping, transitioning a design onto a matrix board is where true hardware durability begins. In this session, we guided the participants through:

The Fundamentals: Understanding the physics of soldering, heat transfer, and working with different solder alloys (63/37 Eutectic vs. Lead-Free).

The Technique: Mastering the perfect "shiny, concave volcano" joint while adhering to strict workshop safety protocols.

Practical Application: Transferring a schematic to physical hardware by assembling a 2-Transistor LED Flasher (Astables Multivibrator) circuit, exploring the underlying RC timing constants (T = 0.693 \times R \times C) that govern the blinking frequency.

Seeing the students successfully debug and bring their hardware to life is always the best part of teaching. Looking forward to the next stage where we dive deeper into custom PCB layouts!
