The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) is
Organizing a competition program "STEAM Materials Design Competition
among University Students". Students studying in Bachelor's and Master's
degree or above can participate in this competition individually or by
forming a group of 3 members.

To participate, students have to send a concept paper/proposal
addressing any one of the themes, by filling the forms found in the link:

Themes: "Solving any current problems in the country"

Modernization of Indigenous/Traditional Technology
Water scarcity in agricultural production
Earthquake-resistant building using local materials
Air Pollution in Urban Areas
Degradation of cultural heritage
Disaster risk management and mitigation
Municipal waste management
Easy health access for the rural community
Integration of modern technology in production
Others

KUSET Journal Now Indexed in DOAJ

We are pleased to share that the Kathmandu University Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology (KUSET) has now been officially indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
KUSET can now be viewed within the DOAJ database at the following link: https://doaj.org/toc/1816-8752

This is a significant achievement for KUSET, as it places us among internationally recognized open-access journals, increasing our visibility to researchers, academics, and institutions worldwide. The DOAJ indexing process confirms that KUSET follows a rigorous peer-review process, transparent editorial practices, and open-access principles that align with international publishing standards. As a result, the articles published in KUSET will now be more easily discoverable through academic databases and search engines, significantly enhancing the reach and impact of research contributions from Kathmandu University and our collaborators.

Falling Walls Lab Kathmandu 2025: Hosted at KU School of Management with KU RDI, Energize Nepal, DAAD Regional Office South Asia, and Falling Walls Foundation

On May 08, 2025 Falling Walls Lab Kathmandu 2025, hosted for the second time in Nepal at Kathmandu University School of Management with collaboration with KU RDI, Energize Nepal Program, DAAD Regional Office South Asia and Falling Wall Foundation, brought together over 100 participants and 13 finalists who were selected to showcase their solutions in three-minute pitches and presented their innovative ideas aimed at addressing global challenges before a distinguished jury and an engaged audience.

Mitesh Shrestha PHD Scholar from Tribhuvan University clinched the first prize with his visionary concept "Breaking the Wall of Synthetic Fertilizers and Pesticides" He will now represent Nepal in the prestigious Falling Walls Lab Final in Berlin!

Monima Karmacharya secured second place with her innovative approach of transforming dairy wastewater using microalgae into functional foods. Prince Chaudhary claimed the third prize for his idea focused on empowering the citizen voice through Nepal's first e-petition platform. The audience choice award went to Shristi Bhattarai for her idea on creating medication against superbugs.

A huge thank you to all participants, student clubs, jury members, and our supportive audience for making this event a success.

Call for Applications – Falling Walls Lab Kathmandu 2025

On behalf of the Research Development and Innovation (RDI), we are excited to announce that the Falling Walls Lab Kathmandu 2025 is now open for applications! This is a fantastic opportunity for students, researchers, and faculty to present innovative research projects, business ideas, or social initiatives. The winner will also earn the chance to attend the global Falling Walls Lab finale in Berlin.

Directorate of Research, Development & Innovation (RDI), KU invites proposals from full-time faculties of Kathmandu University under the scheme of “Internally Funded Projects”. The following two categories of projects have been chosen for this fiscal year. Please email the soft copy of your proposals (PDF) to RDI at [email protected] by January 31, 2025.
