The Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant, also known as B.1.1.529 was first reported to WHO on 24 November 2021. Omicron has been named a Variant of Concern and studies are being done to learn more about how easily it spreads and how severe the infection is.

देशका विभिन्न प्रयोगशालाहरुमा गरिएको परीक्षणमा आइतबारथप २०७१ जनामा कोरोनाभाइरस संक्रमण देखिएको स्वास्थ्य तथा जनसङ्ख्या मन्त्रालयले पुष्टि गरेको छ । यी सहित हालसम्म कोरोनाबाट संक्रमण हुने संक्रमितको संख्या १ लाख ७ हजार ७५५ पुगेको छ।

पछिल्लो २४ घण्टामा १ हजार ५५२ जना कोरोनाबाट निको भएका छन्। यीसहित हालसम्म कोरोनाबाट निको हुनेको संख्या ७५ हजार ८०४ पुगेको छ । विगत २४ घण्टामा नेपालमा कोरोनाभाइरस सङ्क्रमणको कारण थप २२ जनाको मृत्यु भएको स्वास्थ्य तथा जनसङ्ख्या मन्त्रालयले जनाएको छ। यो वृद्धिसँगै कोभिड १९ बाट मृत्यु हुनेको सङ्ख्या ६३६ पुगेको छ ।

As Eid al Adha approaches, WHO suggests following COVID-19 measures should be applied to all venues 🕌:

🔸 Shorten the length of the event
🔸 Organize smaller services
🔸 Regulate the number and flow of people
🔸 Facilitate contact tracing
🔸 Plan in advance if someone becomes ill in venues

WHO welcomes preliminary results about dexamethasone use in treating critically ill COVID-19 patients: https://bit.ly/30Jswgq

For patients on ventilators, the treatment was shown to reduce mortality by about 1/3, and for patients requiring only oxygen, mortality was cut by about 1/5, according to preliminary findings shared with WHO.

The benefit was only seen in patients seriously ill with COVID-19, and was not observed in patients with milder disease.
