Quantum University Students Hold Memorial for Gen Z Martyrs
Students, youth, and faculty members of Quantum University came together today to hold a memorial ceremony honoring the martyrs of the Gen Z movement. The event paid tribute to the 19 students who lost their lives during the Gen Z protests in Kathmandu on September 8, 2025.
The ceremony began with the creation of a map of Nepal, lighting of candles, and a moment of silence to honor the fallen. Students from various regions of Nepal gathered with sorrow, determination, and hope for a better future.
Speakers at the event emphasized that the sacrifices of these young heroes are the foundation of nation-building. Quoting a famous inspirational line, “A nation is built through sacrifice, struggle, and dedication; martyrs are the lamps of our soul,” participants reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values and social progress.
It was highlighted that at present, 51 injured protestors are receiving treatment at the National Trauma Center, including 8 in critical condition in the ICU and 31 undergoing surgeries. The speakers pointed out that while 25 martyrs lost their lives during the 19-day People’s Movement of 2006, this recent tragedy saw 19 students die in a single day—a reflection of leadership failure and disregard for youth aspirations.
The event called for urgent change and the need to respect the voice, dreams, and rights of the younger generation. Participants pledged to honor youth leadership, protect democracy, promote human rights and freedom of expression, and work towards unity and cooperation.

The ceremony concluded with a collective vow to become champions of change and ensure that the sacrifices made by the martyrs are not in vain. The students expressed hope that their country will move forward with democratic values, peace, justice, and respect for individual rights.
