On the occasion of World Su***de Prevention Day on September 10, our MasterтАЩs in Counseling Psychology students came together for a meaningful QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Gatekeeper Training focused on su***de prevention and awareness.
Our students, Devi Kala Limbu and Prarthana Bhandari, took the initiative to facilitate the session for their junior batch, creating a space for learning, conversation, and reflection.
The session introduced students to the basics of recognizing possible warning signs, starting a supportive conversation, and helping someone connect with appropriate professional support when needed.
What made the experience especially meaningful was that it was student-led. Devi and Prarthana were not simply sharing what they had learned-they were passing that learning forward to their juniors. It was a simple but powerful reminder that knowledge becomes even more meaningful when we share it with others.
Su***de prevention is not only about knowing what to do in a crisis. It is also about creating a culture where people feel comfortable reaching out, where someone is willing to listen without judgment, and where seeking help is seen as a strength.
As we observe World Su***de Prevention Day, we are reminded that every conversation, every act of listening, and every effort to connect someone with support can matter.
Proud of our students for turning their learning into awareness, empathy, and action.
