The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in New Zealand is organizing a special reception to honor New Zealanders who have engaged in academic or study-related activities in China. The reception is also open to those who are learning Chinese language and have shown a keen interest in the Chinese culture.

Ever wondered why interest in learning Chinese is waning despite China's growing significance in the global economy? Check out this new article published by North Asia CAPE. This article encourages policymakers, community leaders, and programme providers to collaborate in developing strategies to tackle challenges encountered by Chinese language teachers in schools and universities.

Chinese language university courses in New Zealand have declined in the past decade, in contrast to the rising importance of Chinese languages, says Dr Danping Wang, Senior Lecturer of Chinese at the University of Auckland. Dream Back to China

To be performed by more than 80 New Zealand-born Chinese children, this show revolves around the tales and dialogues between a young girl raised in Auckland and her visiting grandfather from China. It delves into questions of identity and heritage, exploring how we should bridge our past and future. Through Chinese dance, we take a meaningful journey into the astonishingly rich Chinese history – from as far back as 200 BC to the Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing, Republican era, Cultural Revolution, 1980-90s HipHop, and contemporary street dance. This is history and culture brought to life outside the pages of a textbook!
