University of Auckland Indian Society The University of Indian Society (UoAIS) aims to bring together people with a keenness to promote an We welcome people of all nationalities to join our club. :)

Started in 2013, the University of Indian Society (UoAIS) aims to bring together people with a keenness to promote and celebrate Indian culture. We strive to achieve this by organising social and academic events such as movie nights and study sessions, attending cultural events such as Holi and Garba, and producing regular stage performances. Being the only Indian club on campus, we endeavour to p

rovide events on a consistent basis and create an in-club culture of collectively and pride. In 2014, UoAIS has had numerous movie nights, hosted and performed at Diwali events, produced a smash-hit play “East meets West – Love in Bollywood Style”, attended Holi and Garba functions, and contended in the Annual Bollywood Dance Competition. In 2015, we received an exclusive invitation to attend a Q & A session with Bollywood star Siddharth Malhotra and expanded our involvement in stage performance as we participated a greater variety of events. We won the “Best Bollywood Act” Award in the annual Business School’s Got Talent (BSGT) Competition, “Best Performer” in Auckland University’s Student Association (AUSA’s) Lip Sync Battle, and were invited to perform at various private and public events. In 2016, we have had many achievements and had several performances. We performed New Zealand’s first ever flash mob on the song Jabra Fan and won the “Crowd Favourite” Award at the BSGT Competition. We also performed at Clubs Expo, Holi, and the St Johns National Youth Festival.
