That’s a wrap on AUT LIVE 2026! 🎓✨

AUT’s biggest event of the year and a special day for us to showcase what we have to offer. From exploring our campus and getting hands-on with AUT’s learning spaces, to meeting academics and discovering study options — it was awesome to see so many future students and whānau making the most of the day.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring AUT LIVE to life — our staff, students, academics, partners and volunteers. And, of course, to everyone who showed up, asked questions and got stuck in.

We hope you left feeling inspired, informed and a little more excited about what’s next. 👏

AUT fashion student Zoe Langley was selected as one of just eight local designers to showcase her work at last month’s Future of Fashion Show. An incredible achievement and a powerful milestone in her creative journey.

Leaving Christchurch wasn’t easy. But Auckland gave her something she couldn’t find back home... to be immersed in the fashion industry while studying.

Soon, the studio became her home. Her classmates became her community. And the Auckland fashion scene pushed her to become the designer she wanted to be.

Her confidence has grown. And her design voice has become clearer.

She makes it all herself. No external factories. No outsourcing. Just her, her ideas and her own hands.

One of her favourite pieces started with a story from home. Her great-grandfather was a stained-glass artist who worked on a window in Christchurch Cathedral.
She turned his craft, and the memory of a changed Christchurch, into a silk dress.

She moved to Auckland looking for an opportunity.
She found a community. A creative voice.A career
And now? She’s taking it to the runway. Sometimes, you have to leave home to find where you belong. Zoe Langley

Dear Auckland. A new creative collaboration has arrived.

Last week, we officially revealed Dear Auckland, a first-of-its-kind collaboration bringing together AUT, AKA, Auckland FC and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited to put our emerging creatives at the centre of a bigger question:

What does the future of Auckland look like to you?

Over the next three months, a cohort of third-year AUT students from across all six art & design disciplines will work with AKA founder Steve Dunstan to develop their own creative responses to the city they call home.

The launch brought together students, creatives, industry and community leaders, with insights from Steve Dunstan, leaders from Auckland FC and AUT, Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson, and Tātaki Auckland Unlimited, the team behind Auckland Loves Students.

The students’ creative journeys will be captured throughout the project, culminating in a special event and installation in November 2026 as part of AUT’s graduate celebrations.

We can’t wait to see Dear Auckland through their eyes.

Me aro ki te hā o Hineahuone. Pay heed to the mana of wāhine.

The Y25 Aotearoa programme celebrates 25 young wāhine and gender-diverse changemakers, aged 25 and under, who are doing incredible things for their communities and beyond.

So, it’s no surprise to see our AUT community among those recognised. 🖤

Meet four formidable females fighting for the communities that raised them. And read their stories of courage, purpose and change.

Last Friday at the AUT AI Hackathon, students came together with mentors and technology leaders to explore how AI could be used to tackle real-world challenges.

The hackathon was about more than building with AI. It was about using technology responsibly, for social good, and bringing Māori and Indigenous perspectives into the future of innovation.

From food waste to food security, students developed ideas exploring how AI could make a meaningful difference in our communities. 🤖🌱

Hear from some of our students below as they share what they worked on and what they took away from the experience. 👇

A powerful day of whakaaro, collaboration and creativity at AUT. 💡
