Semester 1 has arrived❗️

Last Saturday we opened Orientation Week with Pacific Connections Day, welcoming our first-year students and their families into our AUT Pacific aiga. We shared a glimpse into university life, but more importantly, began building connections that will carry us through the years ahead.

The day also gave students and families the chance to meet the team behind Vā Pasifika, our dedicated Pacific student support service who will be walking alongside them with mentoring, academic guidance, and wellbeing support throughout their journey 🛶🌊

Special thanks to AUT Student hub (South), AUT Schools and Community Partnerships, AUT Business, Economics & Law and our Student reps for supporting this special day 🌺.

Happy Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!

At AUT Pacific, we celebrate the strength of te reo Māori and also our shared connections across the Pacific. 🌊

Our ancestors held highly developed maritime knowledge and technology. From the Marianas to Aotearoa, Pacific peoples built seacraft and carried a wealth of ocean wisdom that guided them across vast waters.

For most of human history, Pacific Islanders were the world’s greatest sailors and navigators. While Europeans only reached the Canary Islands in 1336 — just a short distance from Africa — Pacific peoples had already discovered and settled every inhabitable island scattered across more than a quarter of the globe. ✨

“Even though I’m far away from home, I know I’m from Papua New Guinea. My blood is Papua New Guinean, my bones are Papua New Guinean, and my skin is Papua New Guinean. I can be living somewhere else, but my whole being is Papua New Guinean.“

It’s Papua Niugini Tok Pisin Wik (Papua New Guinea Pidgin Language Week) 🇵🇬 here are some of our proud PNG family here at AUT.
