🌿 A celebration of culture, identity, and connection at Crown!🌿

Today, we had the privilege of experiencing something truly beautiful as we celebrated Māori culture and heritage during Māori Language Week (Te Wiki o te Reo Māori).💙

Our Māori community shared their culture, history, colours, games, songs, and traditions, while reminding us of something incredibly powerful: to be proud of who we are, remember where we come from, and never forget the importance of our language.

We also learned more about Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) and enjoyed a delicious traditional hāngī — bringing learning, food, music, and community together. 🥘🎶

What made this celebration even more special was the invitation to people from different cultures to join in and bring a symbolic piece of their own culture to share. 🌎✨

It was more than an event — it was a beautiful reminder that culture connects us, stories bring us together, and celebrating our differences makes our community stronger.

Ngā mihi nui to our Māori community at Crown for opening your hearts, sharing your culture, and welcoming us into your celebration. 💙

This week, Cohort 15 visited the Auckland War Memorial Museum, turning learning beyond the classroom into a meaningful shared experience.

As part of their assignment, our NZ Diploma in Hospitality Management level 5 students were asked to create a vlog about hospitality in their home culture — and Danish absolutely delivered!

🇼🇸 Samoa Language Week Celebration! 🇼🇸
What an incredible day we had on Tuesday celebrating Samoan language, culture, and community! Our students and teachers came together for a fun-filled afternoon packed with music, games, food, and cultural pride.

✨ Highlights from the Day:
• Opening Performance: Our talented students kicked off the celebration with a beautiful cultural item, setting the tone with grace and pride.

• Activity Rotations: Students rotated through three exciting stations:
1. Musical Chairs – Samoan Style: Dancing, music, and high energy as everyone vied for the last seat!
2. Kahoot Quiz: A lively quiz session that tested everyone’s knowledge of Samoan language and culture—lots of laughs and learning!
3. Samoan Food Showcase: A delicious spread of traditional dishes—sharing, tasting, and learning about the flavours and stories behind each bite.

• Closing Performance: The students wrapped up the day with a heartfelt cultural performance, leaving everyone inspired and proud.

It was a day filled with smiles, teamwork, and the vibrant spirit of Samoa—celebrating language, culture, and community together! 🌺
