Auckland International Campus A shared education hub, enrolling international learners in programmes accredited by partner institutions (Future Skills and Otago Polytechnic).

ment that celebrates diversity, skills and cultural perspectives. The Auckland International Campus is located in the heart of Central Auckland, popularly known as the ‘City of Sails’. It’s New Zealand’s largest urban area with a diverse multi-cultural population and world class facilities. The city has plenty to offer from upper class shopping experiences and excellent museums to international standard theatres, art galleries and festivals. Auckland has been ranked the third best city in the world for quality of life and the eighth most liveable*. *Mercer Quality of Life, 2016

All classes are taught in English, although many staff do speak other languages and can therefore assist students in their native language. The Auckland International Campus is a partnership between Otago Polytechnic and Future Skills Academy.

Auckland International Campus’ Annual Reflection 2025 looks back on a year of strong growth, learner achievement, research, innovation, and connection with industry. It brings together some of the people, initiatives, and results that shaped the year across AIC.

Highlights include a 97.4% course completion rate, 85.7% of graduates progressing into employment or further study within a year, and learners representing 33 countries. The Annual Reflection also showcases the growth of our research activity, the development of our new Master of AI Integrated IT Solutions, our evolving Employability Programme, and the achievements of our students and staff throughout 2025.

Today we celebrated the vibrant culture of the Philippines at AIC.

Students shared different aspects of Filipino culture through performances, traditional costumes, songs and dances, as well as plenty of delicious Filipino food.

The event also explored the Philippines itself, from its beaches and cities to other places to visit, along with Filipino languages and words unique to the country.

We also heard about Filipinos making their mark on the world stage, as well as the everyday heroes who make a difference in their communities.

It was a great opportunity for our AIC community to learn more about the Philippines and its culture.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and make it such a success.

Eleven Bachelor of IT and Master of AI Integrated Solutions students attended the NZ IT & AI Job Forum on Sunday.

The off-site field trip was a collaboration between the Auckland International Campus Information Technology and Employability departments.

This event brought together job seekers, students, career changers, migrants, recruiters, and professionals to share practical career advice, real hiring insights, and pathways into IT, data, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI-related roles.

Our Employability Specialist accompanied students to the event where they had opportunities to hear insights, network, and participate in an AI Hackathon.

Students noted that they "really enjoyed learning, connecting and hearing different perspectives from industry", "diving deep into industry trends" and gaining a "better understanding of the evolving IT and AI job market in New Zealand".

Auckland International Campus Information Technology students have developed an AI-powered tool to help Deaf people better understand everyday documents, earning third place at the Aotearoa AI Hackathon 2026.

The Hackathon was organised by Unitec in partnership with Seen Ventures and held from Thursday 6 August to Saturday 8 August.

Five of the AIC students who took part were Bachelor of Information Technology students, and one was from our new Master of AI Integrated IT Solutions.

The students participated in the event as part of a multidisciplinary team of ten students. The team was awarded third place and also received an honourable mention for their innovative solution.

Congratulations to the students who were recognised at today’s Excellent Scholars Award Ceremony.

Excellent Scholars Awards are awarded to students who achieved the highest overall result across their courses in the previous study block.

Te Kaihapai Sean Bell addressed the students, their guests, and lecturers, saying they had demonstrated an approach to learning and work that would bring them success in the future.

Our Excellent Scholars were Jiao Xin, Chathuni Noyali Wahalathantri, Murtaza Yusuf Saifee, Sumire Kobayashi, Sandeep Dattatray Warpe, Joshua Marie Dela Vega, Sean Elijah Chavez, Hana Yanita, and Arun.

Our Special Awards recipients were Preetkamal Kaur, Jaspreet Singh, Murtaza Yusuf Saifee, and Ruvangi Hiranya Wijekulasuriya.

This week, 82 students attended an off-site event with AIC Employability and Barfoot & Thompson to gain insights into property management as a career.

Students were warmly welcomed to Barfoot & Thompson's Auckland CBD auction rooms with drinks, nibbles, and networking. They heard from the General Manager and two property managers, who shared their career journeys and spoke about the Barfoot & Thompson Property Management Cadet Programme.

The event gave students the opportunity to hear directly from industry professionals about careers in property management. It also highlighted the types of skills and capabilities important for success in the field.

We thank Barfoot & Thompson for sharing their industry knowledge, insights, and experiences. These conversations are valuable for students as they explore career pathways and learn more about different sectors.

Principal Lecturer Lorraine Skelton is once again helping support women working in New Zealand's technology sector as a facilitator in the Women in Tech NZ Mentoring Circles programme.

The mentoring circles bring together experienced technology leaders and women at different stages of their careers for monthly meetings in Auckland. The programme is about making a welcoming, trusted space for shared reflection, peer support, and learning from each other.
