30 years. Thousands of students. So many incredible stories.

As we celebrate 30 years of ITC, we’ve been thinking about just how many journeys have started in our classrooms over the years. Students have walked through our doors wondering what their future might look like, then gone on to work in travel, tourism, aviation and beyond, both here in New Zealand and around the world.

While a lot has changed since ITC first began, one thing hasn’t: we still love helping people discover what they’re capable of and take those first steps towards an exciting career.

To every student, graduate, tutor, staff member, employer and industry partner who has been part of the ITC story over the past 30 years, thank you. You’re a huge part of what makes ITC, ITC.

Here’s to all the adventures, careers and stories still to come.

30 years. Thousands of career stories.

Today we turn 30!

What started in 1996 with two travel industry professionals, an old IBM computer and an Underwood typewriter has become three decades of people finding confidence, landing first jobs, changing direction and building careers they may never have imagined.

And that’s the part we’re most proud of. But this milestone isn’t just about how long we’ve been here. It’s about the people who have been part of the journey. The students who found their confidence. The graduates who landed that first exciting job. The tutors, staff, industry partners, schools and whānau who helped open doors. And all the places an ITC journey has led since 1996.

So as we celebrate, we’d love to hear YOUR ITC story too. Maybe there’s a favourite memory you still talk about. Maybe ITC helped you discover a career you never expected. Or maybe you met people here who made a lasting difference.

Imagine starting your tourism studies... and finding yourself on top of the Auckland SkyTower.

That’s exactly where four ITC students ended up after an opportunity came through one of our long-standing industry connections with AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand.

But the best bit wasn’t just the incredible SkyWalk experience or being part of a professional photoshoot. It was the chance to step outside their comfort zones, meet people working in the industry and discover just how much they were capable of.

And that’s the thing about studying tourism. Sometimes the opportunities that shape your future are the ones you never saw coming.

If you’re thinking about studying travel, tourism or aviation with ITC, our next free online information session is coming up at the end of September, and you can join us from anywhere in New Zealand.

In the 45 minute session, you’ll find out more about studying with ITC, your course options, what student life is really like, and where your qualification could take you. Plus, there will be a live Q&A, so you can ask any questions you have along the way.

And don’t worry about being on camera. Your camera and sound are off, so you can simply sit back, listen, and type your questions into the Q&A.

A new season is here so maybe it's time for a change of direction too?

Spring has a funny way of making everything feel like it's moving again. More daylight. Warmer days. Summer suddenly doesn't seem that far away.

So if you've spent winter thinking: "I really need to work out what I'm doing next…", maybe this is your sign to turn thinking into researching.

Look at courses. Ask questions. Visit a campus. Talk to someone. One small step is still a step.
