Have you ever wondered who keeps aircraft moving safely through our skies?

Today is Air Traffic Controller Day, and we're giving a shout-out to the people working behind the scenes to keep air travel safe and running smoothly!

Air Traffic Controllers have one of the most important jobs in aviation. They guide aircraft during take-off, landing and throughout their flights, making quick decisions, communicating with pilots and helping keep everyone safe.

A career in aviation doesn't have to mean becoming a pilot or cabin crew member! There are loads of exciting career opportunities in the industry, including Air Traffic Control, airport operations, ground handling and airline services.

At ITC, our aviation courses can help you build industry knowledge, communication skills and confidence as you explore your future in aviation. While becoming an Air Traffic Controller requires additional specialist training and selection, studying with ITC could be a great first step towards exploring this career path.

🚒 A taste of the cruise industry in action!

Our ITC students recently had an amazing opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with Cruise Turnarounds thanks to Akorn Destination Management and Abercrombie & Kent. Working with the beautiful Celebrity Solstice! 🌊

From the cruise terminal to the airport, there were a variety of roles available, with students finding out their specific duties on the day.

✨ What could a cruise turnaround role involve?

πŸ›³οΈ Terminal work: Supporting cruise operations in a range of roles at the terminal.

🚌 ShoreX: Assisting passengers as they head off to enjoy their shore excursions and tours.

🏨 Hotel work: Supporting hospitality desks at hotels where cruise guests stay before their voyage.

✈️ Airport roles: Welcoming arriving passengers and helping them connect with their transfers.

Experiences like these give our students valuable insight into the many moving parts behind a cruise experience, while building confidence, developing customer service skills and making industry connections.

One bungy jump changed Jessica's career plans!

When Jessica Fuiono finished high school, she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. She'd started studying something else, but it just didn't feel right.

That all changed when she enrolled at ITC and began discovering the career opportunities waiting for her in tourism.

During an ITC trip to AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand at the Auckland Harbour Bridge, Jessica took the plunge (literally!) and discovered a passion for adventure tourism.

Fast forward through her studies, work experience and some help from ITC's Employment Consultant, and Jessica is now living and working in Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand, as one of AJ Hackett's newest team members!

Not a bad career move, right?

Jessica's story is a great reminder that you don't need to have your whole future figured out before you start studying. Sometimes you discover what you love along the way.
