BODY PIERCING DIPLOMA
This five day course (from 10.00am to 6.00pm) is specific, in-depth and fully comprehensive. Incorporating Maintain Infection Control with four modules in “BODY PIERCING DIPLOMA” covering all you need to know about piercing from clinical practice, sterilization and performing 28 upper body site piercings, including the popular MDI - “Micro Dermal Implants”. Upon successful completion, you will be able to work as a body piercer, either in your own business or for someone else. The only pre-requisites for this course is that you are over the age of 18 and have a successful current completion of a in First Aid

The course includes eight elements of study relating to Infection Control, Clinic Practice and Records, Personal Safety, Occupational/Workplace Health & Safety Issues, Sterilisation and Waste Management. This unit is offered to those in need of skills and knowledge relating to health care, infection control standards and practice, policies, procedures and controlling regulations. Safety issues relating to client and patient management and record keeping, sterilisation and safe personal and clinic practice are also studied. The unit requires analysis and verification of workplace practice. The elements below are customized for the Tattoo and body piercing industry
Elements for the unit covered are:
• Implement and maintain infection control practices and infection risk containment measures
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness of environment
• Maintain personal protection
• Undertake infection control measures during procedures & treatments
• Clean and sterilise instruments, equipment & implantable items
• Maintain steriliser equipment
• Maintain awareness of implications of premises layout and maintenance for control of infection
• Comply with infection control regulations and standards, and related legal obligations
This unit is for clinics where skin penetration occurs. It is designed to cover the issues of personal safety, client & co-worker well-being. Policies & procedures for safety in a working environment are analysed for implementation. The unit offers reading and research materials and requires practical observation and clinical notes to back up a written assignment. Next available course dates , will be in July.
