✨ Student Spotlight: Davi from Brazil ✨
Davi shared his heartfelt thanks with us, and we couldn’t be prouder. For so many students, studying abroad isn’t just about improving their English — it’s a journey of self‑discovery and personal growth.
Watching Davi transform has been inspiring. He arrived as a shy and uncertain young man, and he left CCEL full of confidence, ready to take on the world. 🌎💪
We are so proud of you, Davi. Your journey reminds us why we love what we do. ❤️

The colours of autumn are simply stunning. We organised an autumn photography competition to encourage our students to get outdoors and explore the beauty of Christchurch. It was incredibly difficult to choose only three winners, but here are the winning photos we selected.

Make your English language studies part of the adventure while experiencing autumn in Christchurch. Our timetable makes it easy to combine study with exploring New Zealand.

Today we celebrated Pink Shirt Day by coming together to spread positivity, inclusion, and support throughout our school 💗
Each class created their own poster — and weren’t our students talented! Every poster was filled with thoughtful, encouraging messages that reflected kindness and inclusion.
It was wonderful to see both students and teachers embracing pink and getting involved in such a meaningful day. Thank you to everyone who helped make our school feel welcoming, uplifting and united. Together, we continue to stand against bullying and promote kindness every day 💕

Sometimes we take steps forward and sometimes we take two steps backward but I believe you all understand that now.
It’s never an easy decision to make, but every new beginning comes with courage and growth.
Big congratulations to all our EAP1 leavers! We will truly miss you all and we wish you the very best on your journey ahead. 🌟

🎶 CCEL Song Club 🎶

At CCEL Song Club, students practise English through music, build confidence in pronunciation and enjoy the joy of singing together.

It’s more than just a class — it’s about making international friendships, sharing cultures and having fun ❤️

From learning Māori waiata (songs) to performing together, every session is full of connection and energy. Today, students even performed one of New Zealand’s most well-known Māori songs 🇳🇿✨

✨ Every Student’s Journey Is Different ✨

At CCEL, students join us for many different reasons. Some stay for a short time, some study while on a working holiday, and others are building English skills to achieve long‑term goals.
Recently, we were thrilled to welcome back Kitty and Diamond from Thailand, who both went on to study at the University of Canterbury after leaving CCEL 🎓
It meant so much to have them return and share their success with us. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.
Kitty studied IELTS with us before going on to complete her MTESOL. She has since taken an exciting next step and is now working as a relief teacher at a preschool 👩‍🏫
Diamond followed a different pathway, studying General English before progressing through EAP 1 & 2, which helped prepare him for further study in the health and healthcare field.

Different goals. Different pathways.
One proud starting point — CCEL 💙

Whatever the reason for studying English, we love being part of our students’ journeys and celebrating their success.

Hello and Welcome, New Students! 🌟A big, warm welcome to all our students joining us at CCEL! 🎈 ِ

🔥🏉 Rugby runs deep at CCEL!
Last year, we introduced you to Matthieu, a CCEL student who took his love of rugby beyond the classroom by spending his weekends refereeing local matches.
Matthieu loved CCEL because it’s more than just a place to study English — it’s a vibrant, international community 🌍❤️ He also fell for Christchurch, with its incredible nature and easy access to the mountains and the ocean 🏔️🌊
From students refereeing games last year to welcoming a new group of students now playing rugby across the city, English learning at CCEL goes far beyond the classroom. We love seeing our students follow their passions, make connections, and fully embrace life in Christchurch.
