Our current UCIC students recently headed to Canterbury Linen Services for an insightful two-hour industry visit - and they loved it! 🙌

From operations, supply chain and logistics to inventory management, quality control, customer service, marketing and sustainability, students got a behind-the-scenes look at how a real business operates. 🏭📦♻️

Most importantly, the visit brought classroom learning to life, showing students how the concepts they study can be applied in a real-world business environment.

💬 A great, engaging opportunity to connect theory with practice and gain valuable industry insight!

🎉 Congratulations, Amanda Xumeng Bao Xumeng Bao for receiving the Waitaha Canterbury International Student Award 2026 – Leader & Mentor Award! 🏆✨

Amanda was selected from many outstanding international student nominees, with only four students receiving awards, making this achievement truly special.

Presented by the Mayor of Ōtautahi Christchurch, Amanda was honoured with her first pounamu greenstone, a meaningful symbol of connection, strength and her contribution to our community. 💚

This award celebrates an international student who demonstrates exceptional leadership while helping others succeed. Through peer mentoring and community involvement, Amanda has supported fellow international students as they settle into study and life at UCIC, supporting real connections and a sense of belonging.
