⚠️ Silent floors = Silent Study ⚠️

It's the second to last week before lectures end and many of you are working away tirelessly on your assignments and class work. With that comes a rise in students using the library spaces, so we just wanted to put out a friendly reminder to everyone that these places are shared, so please be courteous to your fellow students. 🥹🙏

Silent floors are for silent study, if you wish to talk (even if it's only "a quick minute"), or make a call, pop into one of the discussion rooms or make use of our group study floors, where noise, chatting and collaboration are encouraged!

Good luck with your studies!

Head along to Central Library to check out this semester's amazing rare book!

Henry Noel Humphreys had a penchant for replicated devotional bindings that was satisfied by the fabrication of a papier mâché moulded binding. This work, The Miracles of our Lord (1848), was his second work to use this binding style. The covers are modelled on a 12th century ivory binding and is similarly enriched with medallions of original design depicting the principal miracles.

We think it's pretty cool! You can find it on level 2 of the library near the lifts.

UC Library is pleased to announce the publication of Humanitarian Engineering: Fundamentals , Exercises, and Applications, a free and open-access resource textbook, edited by Bryann Avendano, Ph.D.

This book is designed as an academic and applied resource for humanitarian engineering practitioners, students, and educators, as well as for entrepreneurs and communities working in humanitarian and development contexts. It approaches humanitarian engineering as a socio-technical practice, integrating theoretical foundations, practical exercises, and applied case studies, with a strong emphasis on ethics, case studies, and hands-on exercises to support teaching, research and professional practice.

As an open-access publication, the book is freely available for distribution and educational use. It is also intended as a living resource, open to future editions, and to contribute to the continued development of a growing field that calls for socially responsible engineering professionals.
