A slow-moving low is about to park itself over the South Island, and it's bringing serious weather from Wednesday. π§οΈβοΈ
π Westland: 400β500mm of rain in the ranges (orange warning, 48hrs from midday Wed)
ποΈ Heavy snow above 800m β some down to 400m
π SH8 & SH80 through the Mackenzie could see 30cm+ of snow. SH73 up to 20cm above 700m
β‘ Power outages possible. Livestock at risk in the cold.
If you're travelling south or west this week β check the road conditions before you leave. NZTA may close highways to stop vehicles getting trapped.
