General information

UCMUSA - University of Canterbury Muslim Students Association (email: [email protected]) UCMUSA was established in 2005 initially to cater for the needs of the growing numbers of Muslim students studying in the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Since its establishment, it has had an increasing number of members and support from the University and local organisations. Its major annual event, the Islam Awareness Week, aims at installing awareness in the surrounding community of the true colours and beauty of Islam as opposed to the generalised claims of Islam being closely associated with terrorism and injustice. A lot of activities were held during this week, and among the activities were: - Information Booth: information, books, and handouts about Islam and Muslim were available - Daily Evening Lectures: include talks and forums on issues related to Islam, its teachings, and experiences of local converts - BBQ We would love to hear any suggestions or questions from you!
