Otago Polytechnic was delighted to welcome two groups of secondary school teachers onto campus last week for two workshops, as part of the Home Economics and Technology Teachers’ Association of New Zealand (HETTANZ) national conference.

Our Fashion team at the Otago Polytechnic School of Design hosted the cohort of Textiles teachers, showcasing their programme and giving them the chance to try out screen printing learning about textile drape techniques 👗

Meanwhile our Culinary Arts kaimahi gave the visiting Home Economics teachers a quick-fire food design challenge of telling a New Zealand food story by adapting a classic scone recipe. Yum! 🤤

One week since Open Days and we're still buzzing! 🤩

If you attended on the Monday, you might have noticed our awesome Culinary Arts students manning the OP food truck in the Manaaki courtyard.

The budding young chefs served up a range of loaded focaccia bread bites to high schoolers and other campus guests 😍

Third year student Duncan Manfrinati says the food truck project was a good opportunity to give visitors a taste of their work, while singing the praises of Otago Polytechnic’s Culinary Arts programme 👏

Inside, staff and current ākonga brought The Hub to life hosting stalls, information sessions and practical workshops across our wide range of programme spaces.
