We seek committed and engaging teaching staff to support academic staff in the delivery of excellent teaching in the Media, Film & Communication Programme.
In this position, your primary responsibility is to successfully deliver your assigned tutorials within the paper’s learning flow. You will report to the paper coordinator.
Responsibilities:
Conduct tutorials in person / on campus to a high standard using the provided tutorial guidelines / lesson plan and relevant material on Aoroa | BrightSpace;
Attend lectures and engage with students in class activities;
Undertake regular kōrero / consultation with students in relation to set readings; weekly topics; assessment and core conceptual / practical material;
Mark assessment tasks, and provide timely qualitative feedback to students and record results in Aoroa | BrightSpace;
Report matters of academic integrity to the paper coordinator;
Escalate student issues and concerns to the paper coordinator;
Keep accurate and up to date records of student attendance, shared with the paper coordinator;
Participate in meetings, as required, with the paper coordinator.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
Completion or demonstrated progress towards a Doctoral, Master’s, and in some cases, Honours qualification in the relevant disciplinary area, or cognisant field;
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the subject matter;
Ability to manage and facilitate lively and engaging class discussion and debate related to set readings;
Excellent written, spoken and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as a team and communicate clearly;
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage one’s time effectively, administer multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines efficiently;
High level interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to maintain collegiality and professionalism;
Ability to interpret and understand relevant policies and procedures communicated by the paper coordinator and university leadership.

Applicants enrolled in a Doctoral, Master’s and in some cases, Honours, must have been confirmed in their candidature and not be exceeding 3.5 years (Doctoral) or 1.5 years (Master’s) FTE. They must have the support of their supervisor to undertake tutoring work;
Tutors will be provided with reasonable access to facilities in the Programme, such as meeting room spaces for consultation, wi-fi and library access, after-hours access to the Programme space, and, in most cases, desk-space;
Tutors will be expected to create and maintain a staff university email account where all correspondence related to their employment will be sent and received.
