Independence Day 2026 Celebration

The 56th Independence Day of Bangladesh, organised by the Bangladeshi Students’ Association (BDSA), was successfully celebrated at the University of Otago, Dunedin with great enthusiasm and heartfelt participation.

It was a meaningful gathering where Bangladeshi students and community members came together to honour the sacrifices made for our freedom, reflect on our history, and celebrate the spirit and identity of our nation. The programme included kids’ face painting and drawing activities, a short and engaging briefing for children on the significance of Independence Day, and a tribute rally with the national flag followed by a group photo session. Refreshments were also arranged, adding to the warmth and enjoyment of the evening.

A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event. Your presence made the celebration truly memorable.

Let us continue to uphold the values of independence, unity, and resilience wherever we are!!

Victory Day Celebration 2025

On 16 December 2025, celebrating the 55th Victory Day of Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Students’ Association (BDSA), University of Otago, marked the day at the Union Building with joy and a strong sense of togetherness. Bangladeshi students and community members gathered to celebrate our victory, even while living so far from home.

The event was especially meaningful because of the joyful participation of our children. They learned about the significance of this Victory Day in a very engaging way. With face painting, mini Bangladeshi flags in their hands, and Victory Day decorations around them, our children filled the celebration with boundless happiness.

There were refreshments for everyone, and the atmosphere was warm, festive, and full of smiles. It was a meaningful moment to honour our glorious victory and to help the younger generation stay connected to their motherland, Bangladesh.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the celebration memorable.
