Kia Ora and Happy New Year Alumni!

'CALLING ANY EARLY BALLET COSTUMES/PHYSICAL ITEMS OF EARLY DAYS'

The University is working on a 150th museum exhibition and they would like to highlight the Selwyn Ballet in the introductory exhibit.

It is a common belief that the Selwyn Ballet was the first ballet troupe in NZ and one of the first all-male ballet troupes in the world. They are currently seeking some physical items to represent these 'firsts' and would love to track down a Selwyn Ballet costume to loan for the exhibition, which will run for 6 months starting 31 May 2019. This could be a costume from any era, though if there is an early one on hand that would be a preference.

The 125th Jubilee is drawing near and we now have 190 people attending the different celebrations. The golf tournament at Balmacewan, organised by Phil Broughton, has near 50 participants ! This will be a great weekend, with 8 ex-Wardens attending. I am sure they will have many stories to tell! If you haven’t registered, do so soon, get on to your mates and get a group down to recall the best years of your life!

Registrations are coming in regularly and it is getting exciting as we get closer to March 23! Do register as soon as possible as this will assist us with planning. If you haven’t received an email notification with registration links email me at [email protected]. Accommodation is blocked at several motel/hotels in the College vicinity and these are highlighted on the mail invite, but you must contact them directly, not online. Do get in touch with your old Selwyn mates and get a group coming!

Greetings Selwynites!
Registrations are coming in now for the 125th Jubilee in March. A pre-Jubilee meeting of around 70 ex-Selwynites was held last week at the wonderful Christchurch Club. It was a super evening with much reminiscing and catching up. The special guest was Dr Shailer Weston who was celebrating his 89th birthday, and Ryan O'Connor (former choral scholar) led the singing of happy birthday to Shailer. It was a very lovely touch and certainly showed the great affection all ex-residents have with their association with Selwyn..
Very successful meetings were held earlier in Auckland and in Wellington, and a meeting of Otago/Southland alumni will be held in November at the College.

2500 Alumni globally have now received notification and registration details for our 125th Jubilee in March. Alumni meetings held in Auckland and Wellington were very exciting with great enthusiasm for this event, and on Sept 14 there will be another mini reunion in Christchurch. Registrations started coming in immediately for the 125th and we are really looking forward to seeing a great gathering of Selwynites in March. The great Selwyn 'family' is what makes Selwyn so special. See you in March.

Planning is well underway for the 125th Jubilee next March. Details of the weekend are currently being finalised and we will publish these soon. In the meantime there has been a huge amount of interest throughout the country and overseas. Do put the dates March 23-25 in your calendar and come to Dunedin for a great week of reminiscing! It would pay to make accommodation bookings soon as there are other things on.

In 2018 Selwyn College celebrates 125 years of producing young leaders who go on to make a disproportionate difference for good in the world. We would like to use this occasion which culminates with a "Coming Home" weekend in Dunedin (23-25th March 2018), to invite our Alumni to reconnect with the College where they spent those formative and memorable years. Lead up events are planned for 2017 in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin and we'd love to hear from you if you'd be willing to help organise events or to gather Alumni in those centres.
