The achievements of our ākonga continue to amaze us! This week we are so proud to shine a light on two Year 7 Trinity Students Nio Sevilla and Marcus Uy who both competed in the 2026 Kukkiwon International Taekwondo Championship held in Christchurch recently, coming away as champions of their respective divisions!

Nio won two Gold medals in the Kyurugi Under 35kg category (Coloured Belt and Black Belt divisions), and a Silver medal in the Poomsae Minor 2 Colored Belt division. Nio was also selected as the Best Kyurugi Player for the Colored Belt division across the tournament. What an outstanding achievement!

Marcus also won two Gold Medals in his respective Kyorugi 49kg Black Belt and Geup 2–1 Divisions. On top of this, Marcus won two SIlver medals in the Individual Poomsae and Pair Poomsae. Very impressive results at an international competition!

Our Trinity Catholic College Community is incredibly proud of Nio and Marcus, and we extend a huge congratulations to them both on all they are achieving in the world of Taekwondo. Fantastic results from two talented rising stars!

We celebrate a huge win as Otago wins the national debating competition for the 2nd time in 3 years and only the 3rd time in 40 years. Trinity is very proud of Ché who, along with Emily and Beth (Columba), won against Auckland to bring home the trophy. Trinity was represented well with Ziva also in the team as reserve. Well done! Thank you to Mrs McGarry who continues to inspire and support our Trinity debaters.

Congratulations to our two Year 13 Trinity Students Angie Quinn and Isla Simonsen who both competed for New Zealand over the weekend in the U20 Women's Handball Team at the Trans Tasman Cup in Hamilton.

The NZ U20 Women's team came away as the championship winners, and our very own Angie was named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) across the tournament! What an achievement for our talented Handball Wāhine. Well done girls - we are super proud of what you are both achieving on the national stage!

Yesterday our Trinity Catholic College hallways, classrooms and outdoor spaces were transformed into a vibrant sea of pink, rose and magenta as students and staff united for a common cause. More than just a colourful event, Pink Shirt Day served as a powerful visual reminder of our collective commitment to kindness, inclusion, and bravery, standing together against bullying. Everyone from our youngest learners to our senior leaders proudly wore pink, highlighting that every day here at Trinity we strive to provide a safe supportive space for every individual - not just on Pink Shirt Day.

Thanks to your amazing generosity, our Trinity Community raised an incredible $749.10, with all funds raised going to a very worthy cause. Thank you!

The attached flyer has links to further information and also the tickets (it's free, but the venue capacity is only 400 so everyone attending will need to order a ticket).

Our season of “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” is now over - and what an incredible experience it was. Over the four performances there were only three seats on the opening night that weren’t sold!! Thank you to all those who came along and watched the show and shared this magical undersea adventure with us - we appreciate your support so much. And a huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this production to the stage - the cast, crew, band, production team, and extra helpers who worked tirelessly to make this show so special.
