Mobilising for Missions - One of the Ministry Teams at Eastwest is the Inspire (Mobilising Team). The focus of this ministry is to Inspire Christians to recognise God’s heart for the nations and to help them understand their role in the Great Commission.

The desire is to be intentional about being present where people are gathering to create natural opportunities for connection and relationship. Over the summer, Eastwest was part of the New Wine Conference in Masterton, a five‑day experience of camping, worship, prayer, and fellowship. Despite the atrocious weather, the missions stand became a place for meaningful conversations about cross cultural ministry training at Eastwest.

Following that was, Festival One, which will long be remembered for one thing: mud. There was an incredible amount of it after days of rain leading up to the event but despite that, the Missions area became a hub for discussions and opportunities to share.

The hope is that these events will inspire people to consider the steps involved in finding their place in God’s mission. But more importantly, we want to help grow awareness of what God is doing in New Zealand and around the world so that each person can play a part in that story. We were grateful to partner with mission agencies including WEC, ECM, OMF, SIM, and Interserve, serving together in this event.

Community Highlights - Community is at the heart of who we are, and it brings a unique flavor and vibrancy to campus life. With most students living onsite, the rhythm of each day naturally creates plenty of time together from morning devotions to shared morning tea, lunch, afternoon sports, care groups, and evening meals. And of course, there are always a few dedicated students studying in the library late into the night.

But even with all that time together, it’s often still not enough. People love being in community, so we regularly plan extra opportunities to connect. Sometimes it’s a spontaneous trip into town for bubble tea, a college outing like a recent visit to Raglan Beach, or a big community potluck.

At the start of the term, we celebrated Lunar New Year with a campus-wide meal featuring dumplings and all kinds of delicious food. The night was filled with games, laughter, and the simple joy of being together.

These moments big and small, create a deep sense of joy and togetherness, shaping Eastwest College into a true community.

Welcoming Our New Whānau:
In February, we were blessed to open the school year with a pōwhiri, warmly welcoming new staff and students into our Eastwest Whānau.

We are overjoyed to have twelve new students join our diverse community this semester, representing nations like China, Germany, South Korea, and the Philippines.

As they settle into their learning routines, we pray they grow deeply in understanding God’s heart for the nations. We are so thankful for God’s provision and look forward to all He will do in 2026!
