🍠 Kūmara Harvest 🍠

Check out the MASSIVE Kūmara that were harvested from our Maara Kai last week!

Our students have been busy finding our huge crop of kūmara hidden beneath the kūmara vines in our school garden. Even more special is that this year’s kūmara were grown from shoots taken from last year’s harvest — a wonderful full-circle moment for our tamariki to see.

There will be plenty of delicious soups and crispy chips made from this amazing crop, and we love being able to share the fruits (and vegetables!) of our garden with others in our community.

A big thank you to everyone who has helped care for our garden along the way!

🚲 Senior Bike Safety 🚲

Over the past few weeks, our Milky Way and Marama teams have been working with Hamilton City Council about all things to do with Bike Safety!

We learnt about how to be safe on a bike and how to check if our bike is ready to ride using ABCDQ - ask your aakonga what this means! We then got to go out and practise how to look over our shoulder, braking quickly and other important road safety skills. We finished off the week with a fun obstacle course that had jumps and poles to weave in and out of.

We had a range of beginner to confident bikers and everyone gave it a go, which was awesome! Thank you to Hamilton City Council for coming in to teach us these awesome skills!

🌟 Te Totara STARS Spotlight! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our amazing students, Arana, who has been awarded a Silver Medal in her recent Tamil language exam!

Learning and mastering a language takes a massive amount of dedication, practice, and pride in one’s culture. To achieve a silver medal at this level is an outstanding reflection of her hard work and passion.

Please join us in giving her a huge round of applause for this fantastic achievement!

வாழ்த்துக்கள் Vazhthukkal! (Congratulations!) 👏👏

Milky Way 20 were ‘out of this world’ on Friday as they shared their learning at assembly!

They began by teaching us some New Zealand Sign Language they’ve been learning. Then they wowed us with their explanation writing about the Artemis II mission to the Moon and back — the technical language they used was incredible!

To finish, they showcased their stunning watercolour and pencil artworks, Glimpsing Galaxies. Absolutely beautiful.

Ka pai, Milky Way 20 — what fantastic mahi! 🚀✨

Achievement certificates were also given to our Neptune and Milky Way STARS!
