Southern Institute of Technology, School of Audio Production Situated in central Invercargill, the Te Putahi Oro has five studios dedicated to teaching audio.

Te Putahi Oro has the most established audio production degree in Australasia and has been training audio professionals for 17 years. The school has well over a million dollars worth of audio equipment, including an SSL AWS 900SE+ console (valued at $112,000), industry-standard microphones (including Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Shure, Rode, Audio technica), Avid S6 (Post production surround mixing c

onsole for home theatre, film, or music), Toft ATB24 analogue recording console with Otari 24 Track tape machine, API 2448 Recording and Mixing Console, Avid S1 and ProTools 10 in every studio, and a Mac Lab. With courses from the one year Certificate in Audio to a 4 year Double Degree in Audio and Contemporary Music there is something anyone interested in raising their level of education.

Good to see NZ music on the rise again. Stay creative Aotearoa!

Our 2022 distribution is now complete. We are pleased to report a significant increase from 2020 when income was impacted by lockdowns. A highlight has been the continued growth of income generated by Aotearoa recordings, including a significant increase in waiata reo and waiata rua reo.
