Thanks to everyone who came to talk, ride the spring horse and learn more about our education and career pathways.

🦺 Health & Safety in Action - YG Mount

As part of Youth Guarantee Mount’s NCEA Level 1 programme, our students complete a Health and Safety bundle designed to introduce them to the basics of workplace safety.

Over four weeks, students learn about topics such as employee responsibilities, PCBU responsibilities, PPE and safe workplace practices.

To bring that theory to life, the class also gets the chance to complete a practical activity onsite at Bunnings Mount Maunganui.

A big thank you to Ashley and the team at Bunnings Mount Maunganui for continuing to support our students and helping make their learning practical and relevant.

Congratulations, Daria! 🎉

A big well done to Daria Mihaere from Animates Taupō, who has successfully completed the Aquatic Fish strand with PCTI.

It’s great to see people already working in the pet industry continuing to build their knowledge and practical skills.

Daria’s achievement is another great example of how industry-based training can support staff development while building confidence and capability in aquatic care.

🍎 PCTI Trades Academy – Food Manufacturing

Our Trades Academy students have been building practical, industry-based skills through PCTI’s Food Manufacturing programme, worth 25 credits.

Alongside hands-on classroom learning, students have also had the chance to see the industry in action through visits to Mount Brewery, Pure Bottling, Small Batch, Hell’s Pizza and Apata.

From food production and processing through to packaging, labelling, food safety and quality, the programme gives students a real look at how food manufacturing works in the workplace.

It’s a great opportunity for students to gain credits, build confidence and develop practical skills for future study or employment.

🐠 Thanks to the Auckland Aquarium Association for the shout-out!

We really appreciate the Auckland Aquarium Association featuring PCTI and helping spread the word about our aquatics training.

It’s always great to connect with people and organisations who share a passion for fish keeping, aquatic care and building knowledge within the industry.

🐠 Congratulations, Sam! 🎉

A big congratulations to Sam, the winner of PCTI’s “Guess the Number of Fish” competition at the recent CANVAS Careers Expo in Tauranga!

Sam was presented with his prize by David Cooper, Aquatics Consultant, an aquarium generously donated by Hollywood Fish Farm Mt Roskill.

Already a keen fish keeper, Sam was pretty pleased with the win and is planning to use his new aquarium for Betta fish. 🐟

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition, and a huge thank you again to Hollywood Fish Farm Mt Roskill for donating such an awesome prize.
