The Tūpuna Maunga Authority is excited to announce their Tūpuna Maunga Research Scholarship - OPEN NOW!

As a product of the Tūpuna Maunga Education Strategy, the scholarship aims to support students who wish to undertake research about the Tūpuna Maunga. The scholarship applies to research that aligns with the Tūpuna Maunga Values, enhancing and protecting the mauri and wairua of the Tūpuna Maunga.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆?
🎓 You must be a member of a research or education institution.
🎓 You must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
🎓 Research must align with the Tūpuna Maunga Authority Research Policy and approved project list (refer to https://maunga.nz/research for details)
🎓 Applications are open to research from a range of fields, including conservation, archaeology, creative arts, urban planning, design, applied sciences, social sciences, cultural heritage, business, and commercial studies.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲?
💵 A funding pool of $10,000 available annually to support research projects across the Tūpuna Maunga.

The application round will close 𝟯𝟭 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬𝗽𝗺.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga are please to inform you that applications for our education grants are now open! Whether you are pursuing a pre-bachelor certification, tertiary education or trades, we're here to support your educational journey.

📅 Open date: 12:00pm, Monday 17 February 2025
📅 Close date: 5:00pm, Monday 31 March 2025

From helping nursing students with clinical fees to supporting trade apprentices and tertiary learners with tools and tuition, these grants are your chance to focus on achieving your goals without financial stress.

Are you 18 or older and not yet a fully registered and validated iwi member? To apply for our grants, you’ll need to complete your registration with Ngāti Mutunga first.
Simply download the registration form using the button below, complete it, and either:
• Scan and email it to [email protected], or
• Post it to:

• Did you apply to Māori Education Trust previously? If you have previously registered with the Māori Education Trust portal then you just need to ensure that your profile has Ngāti Mutunga (Taranaki) listed as one of your iwi and you will then see our grants.

Ensure you have the following documentation ready for upload:
• “ACADEMIC REFERENCE” – this is a letter from your research supervisor for Masters and PhD Level or a simple CV for other grants
• “BANK” – this is a verification of your bank account number
• “ENROLMENT” – this is confirmation from your institution of your enrolment
• “NGATI MUTUNGA REGISTRATION” – this is evidence of your registration if you are 18 years + then you will need to be registered under your name (refer to the link below for the registration form)
• “FEES STATEMENT” – this is a statement of your total fees for the years study.

🌀 Applications are open - Veterinary Māori and Pacific Pathway (VetMAP) 2025 🌀

VetMAP is an alternative entry pathway open to all NZ Māori and/or indigenous Pacific students aspiring to join the veterinary profession through study at Tāwharau Ora (School of Veterinary Science) at Massey University. Our vision is to increase the number of Māori and Pacific veterinarians in Aotearoa.

The VetMAP Pathway is open to all students that:
🔸 are NZ Māori and/or indigenous Pacific descent
🔸 are domestic students
🔸 have university entrance (or sitting UE examinations very soon)
🔸 are committed to progressing their cultural journey
