FOUNDATIONS PROGRAMME - PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Exploring Spiritual Growth
May 4, 2023 – Jun 22, 2023 9:30AM TO 12.30PM
Lecturer: Pauline Simonsen
This course is rated “M” for maturity, because it’s all about growing up in God. Followers of Jesus are called to ‘grow up into his full stature’ – but what does that mean? How does it happen?
This course will take us deeper into relationship with God, where we learn of him, about ourselves, and so about living as mature people of God. We’ll practise some of the ancient and new disciplines that God’s Spirit uses to mature us. And we’ll let God loose in our lives again to shape us as his children. Get growing!
8 Week Course on Thursday mornings 9.30am - 12.30pm.
$250 Earlybird (Paid by Friday 28 April 5pm) $300 standard fee

God AND Man? JESUS IN THE EYES OF THE EARLY CHURCH.
(Personal and Professional Development)
May 9, 2023 – Jun 27, 2023 (Please note later start and end date)
By Nevin Beukes
"Who do you say I am?" Jesus put this question to his followers in the midst of competing ideas about who he really was. As time went on, different people and different groups sought to answer this all-important question: Who is Jesus? In the early centuries of the Church many ideas about Jesus were formed and circulated. It was the church's challenge and privilege to wrestle with Scripture and reason, in seeking out the truth about Jesus. They had to navigate different ideas and different interpretations of scripture to properly articulate the truth: that Jesus is both God and Man. In this course we retrace the discussions of the early church fathers, wrestle with the scriptures they wrestled with, examine the creeds that were written as a result – and discover again for ourselves who this Jesus really is.

8 Week course - $95 Early Bird Fee or $125 Standard Fee
The Early bird fee will apply to payments made before 5pm the FRIDAY before the course starts. Standard fee will apply if paid after 5pm the FRIDAY prior to the course start date.

KING DAVID - HEART AFTER GOD
(Personal and Professional Development)
May 2, 2023 – Jun 20, 2023
By Dave Belesky
Life of David:
"We will wrestle with the question - how can David be a man after God's own heart, when he did some terrible things? He was flawed, and had a dodgy track record. Yet, there were aspects of his life that were remarkable and ahead of his time. What were they? Includes video clips that bring his story to life, and comprehensive notes useful for teaching/leading a small group study on David's life."
8 Week course - $95 Early Bird Fee or $125 Standard Fee
The Early bird fee will apply to payments made before 5pm the FRIDAY before the course starts. Standard fee will apply if paid after 5pm the FRIDAY prior to the course start date.

Moving On: Grief in Ministry Transitions - Silvia Purdie

MARCH SEMINAR - Sat 25 March 9.30am, $60pp
We love new beginnings in the church, but endings are harder. When we do endings well, people leave feeling blessed and grateful. When endings are done badly people can be deeply hurt and their souls and ministries seriously damaged. Presbyterian minister and counsellor Silvia Purdie has researched how people of different cultures, ages and stages experience this, and has written a book called Moving On: Grief in Ministry Transitions. This seminar will help participants to prepare for future transitions and recover from past hurts. Topics covered:
Ending well: what are my responsibilities through the process of leaving a position?
Complex grief: why are some endings harder than others?
God is in it: theology of transition, and pastoral prayer for healing.
In context: cultural differences and wider church responsibilities.
