💖 Love It or Hate It: Menstruation Tracking Apps 💔

So far, we've spent nearly 70 hours talking with people about their experiences with MTAs. For some, these apps are a positive:

✨ Plan around your period
✨ Understand your body better
✨ Share data with healthcare providers

However, they also raise concerns for others:
❌ Privacy issues
❌ Inaccurate predictions
❌ Reinforcing normative stereotypes

We want to learn more about how people experience menstruation tracking apps—especially during life phases like perimenopause or postpartum.

What’s your experience!?

🔍 Project Update!

We’re in the thick of our preliminary analysis for the research project! 📊

✨ We've wrapped up data collection with our perimenopause cohort and are now getting stuck into data analysis.

Currently, we're also speaking with new parents about their experiences of menstruation tracking apps. Next year, we’re excited to recruit younger folks who are just starting to get familiar with their menstruating bodies.

Stay tuned for updates! 👀

📢 World Menopause Day 📢

💡 As we acknowledge , let’s take a moment to think about the flourishing menopause industry – the good, the bad, and everything in between.

💬 There’s no doubt that menopause is finally getting the attention it deserves. But, is this wave of attention truly empowering, or just another market to capitalise on?

🤖 AI in the mix! 🤖

It was only a matter of time, right?!

Currently in the research phase in South Africa, Femmflo is turning to AI-driven monitoring:

💬 “Femmflo is an innovative health platform dedicated to women’s hormonal and psychological well-being. This innovative platform leverages AI-driven monitoring, providing a lifestyle companion that integrates at-home and in-lab testing to offer tailored support for women’s health.…”

Have thoughts on AI in period tracking or wellness apps? We'd love to hear from you! 👇

🌟 Exciting Updates in Menopause Advocacy from Menodoctor this week🌟

'Estrogel’ funding could be a reality by November this year. Your feedback is crucial to making this happen—share your thoughts with Pharmac today!

👉 You can submit your feedback by either emailing them directly via [email protected] or use the link below:

https://pharmac.govt.nz/news-and-resources/consultations-and-decisions/proposal-to-fund-oestradiol-gel-and-to-award-principal-supply-status-to-estrogel/feedback-on-oestradiol-gel-consultation

Across the ditch in Australia, a public inquiry was launched last November about perimenopause and menopause. It's AMAZING to see this discussion gain momentum—could we do something similar here in Aotearoa???

Let's keep pushing for progress and better health options for all. Stay tuned for more updates about how to share your stories with our research team—they matter! 💬💕
