A big thank you / fa'afetai lava to Fauono Ken Laban - Mayor of Lower Hutt and his Hutt City Council team (Magic Whiu and Saraї Gamliel) for hosting the annual Gold Awards Hutt City Winners and Finalists presentation. This a tradition instigated by then Mayor John Terris in 1999 and subsequently carried on by our Wellington region's Council Partners each year.

Fix & Fogg Cracks Costco!

Wellington's favourite peanut butter company is celebrating another giant leap in the American market.

Fix & Fogg is now being stocked by Costco in the United States, marking a significant milestone for the company founded by Roman and Andrea Jewell.

Roman and Andrew first sold their peanut butter at the Thorndon Farmers' Market, before finding a following at Moore Wilson’s and, eventually, New World supermarkets.

More than a decade later, Fix & Fogg has grown into an international brand, with the latest achievement taking it into the world’s third largest retailer.

Costco operates a vast network of membership warehouses and is known for keeping its product range relatively tightly curated and buying products in significant volumes.

Here Thom Brooks, Fix & Fogg's first employee after founders Roman and Andrea, is pictured with Costco chief executive Ron Vachris celebrating the deal.

Congratulations Andrea, Roman, Thom and the whole Fix & Fogg team - an overnight success story 12 years in the making!

It was an honour to have Billy and Kerri Graham accept the IMPACT Award on behalf of Champions Initiative at the Wellington Gold Awards this year.

The link between the Wellington City Mission sending Mr Dunn to the Hutt Valley, Billy walking into the Railways Boxing Gym, and then establishing the Naenae Boxing Academy was clear to all. And the fact that three CI academies now exist in the Wellington region, was not lost on the mayors of those cities, in the audience.

We are very proud of the Champions initiative legacy.

The Post 2026 Gold Awards Winners #1: Mufftech

Five years ago, Simon Stone pulled off his earmuffs after a long day on a construction site and asked why the options were so bad. His wife told him to stop complaining and do something about it.

Founder Simon Stone (pictured) explains: "Three years of prototype development and real job-site testing with tradespeople later, Mufftech launched in 2023: premium Bluetooth hearing protection built by a tradie, for tradies, with serious audio quality to match."

What started as one man's fix for his own problem on a Kiwi work site is now sold in over 20 countries around the world, with the bulk of sales coming from international markets.

In just twelve months, Mufftech has gone from a local New Zealand operation to a genuinely global one.

Not bad for a complaint that finally found its answer.
