Throwback to RPM Rising ✅🏠🥂

On 21 April, we partnered with Renti to bring together over 20 residential property management professionals for an evening of real conversation about the future of the sector.

From m**h compliance updates to business development and what quality RPM education should look like - the room had a lot knowledge and insight to share, and energy in that space was amazing to see.

The message was clear: the RPM sector is ready for professionalisation. And here at Skills Institute, we're ready to support that journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who came and contributed — and a special shoutout to our Cookery and Hospitality ākonga who helped cater the evening! 🙌

Today, our Wiri Healthcare learners visited Tōtara Hospice at Nathan Homestead Pukepuke!

They explored end-of-life care and, with permission, met clients who shared their life experiences through meaningful conversations. It's real-world exposure like this that helps our ākonga grow into empathetic, capable healthcare professionals 💕🩹

We also had the honour of viewing the Talanoa Pop-Up Photo Exhibition — portraits by Geoffery Matautia celebrating Pasifika families and the importance of culturally grounded care, on display during Hospice Awareness Week 🌺

If you're able to, we'd encourage you to go along and experience it for yourself for its second session tomorrow!

Just wrapped up on the Tahatū Careers Expo in Dunedin! 📚👏

Such an awesome day seeing students come over and visit our booth and chat about the pathways and opportunities of vocational training and education!

The energy, the curiosity, the big questions from students about their futures and seeing their excitement was infectious - we love to see our generation of young people step into what's possible for their futures! 🌟

Our Cookery and Hospitality learners had an incredible speaker session this week, and the energy in the room said it all 🍽️✨

We were joined by Am To, Food Verifier from Auckland Council, who led an engaging and interactive session diving into the realities of the hospitality and culinary industry — the standards, the skills, and what it truly takes to succeed.

Thank you, Am To, for bringing your expertise into our classroom and helping our learners see exactly where their passion can take them! 🔥

What does a career in community health actually look like? 🩺🩹

Our Health learners in our Dunedin campus found out firsthand when Prachi Didmich, Client Services Manager at Florence Nightingale Agency, came in to share her experience and insights.

From the nature of support work to real employment pathways - students left with a clearer picture of where their skills can take them!

Thank you Prachi, for taking the time to visit and speak to our learners! 🙏
