At the Faculty of Business and Economics we take pride in aligning ourselves with international business trends while being committed to Oman’s vision for development where sustainability, entrepreneurship and innovation are its main anchors. The Faculty of Business and Economics, Department of Logistics, Tourism and Service Management offers two undergraduate study programmes: International Business and Service Management, focusing on the tourism and travel sector, and Logistics. Within the wider framework of international business studies, these two programmes move elegantly between theory and practice bringing students in direct contact with real life business scenarios in these two important economic sectors. These two sectors are earmarked to lead the diversification process of the Omani economy and create the desired job opportunities for the future generations as per outlines of Oman’s vision 2040.

Our Event Management students from the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) had the opportunity to attend the IAPCO EDGE Seminar at Kempinski Hotel Muscat.

The seminar provided valuable insights into professional conference and event management, allowing students to learn from industry experts and connect classroom knowledge with real-world practices.

A special thank you to the Oman Convention Bureau for their kind invitation and commitment to enriching students’ knowledge and providing valuable learning opportunities.

نظّمت الجامعة الألمانية للتكنولوجيا في عُمان زيارة تعليمية إلى سفينة شباب عُمان الثانية، بمشاركة 25 طالبًا وطالبة من برنامج إدارة الأعمال الدولية والخدمات، وذلك ضمن مقرر إدارة الثقافة والتراث بإشراف البروفيسورة هبة عبد العزيز.

أتاحت الزيارة للطلبة فرصة قيّمة للتعرف على تاريخ السفينة ودورها في الحفاظ على التراث البحري العُماني والتعريف بالثقافة والهوية العُمانية على الصعيد الدولي، إلى جانب تعميق فهمهم لأهمية التراث البحري في السياحة الثقافية.

خالص الشكر والتقدير لطاقم سفينة شباب عُمان الثانية على حسن الاستقبال وتوفير تجربة تعليمية ثرية لطلبتنا.

The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) organized an educational visit to Shabab Oman II, bringing together 25 students from the International Business and Service Management (IBSM) program as part of the Culture and Heritage Management course.

The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to explore the ship’s history and its role in preserving Oman’s maritime heritage and promoting Omani culture and identity internationally, while gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of maritime heritage in cultural tourism.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Shabab Oman II crew for their warm hospitality and for providing our students with an enriching learning experience.

An inspiring encounter for our three GUtech students, Layal Al Riyami, Dina Al Mohamed, and Youssef Al Harthy during the WTTC Global Summit 2026 in Valletta, Malta.

As part of their participation in the Future[Re]Set youth initiative, the students had the valuable opportunity to meet with Eng. Ayyad Al Balushi, Group CEO of OMRAN Group, and Mr. Shabib Al Maamari, Managing Director of Visit Oman.

During the meeting, Eng. Ayyad Al Balushi shared his vision for the future of tourism in Oman, highlighting the sector’s enormous potential and encouraging the students to explore the exciting career and entrepreneurial opportunities it offers.

The encounter reflected the very spirit of Future[Re]Set: creating meaningful connections between today’s industry leaders and tomorrow’s tourism professionals.

The tourism sector needs the fresh perspectives, creativity, and ambitions of Gen Z, just as young people need inspiration, mentorship, and opportunities from industry leaders.

Our sincere appreciation to Eng. Ayyad Al Balushi and Mr. Shabib Al Maamari for taking the time to engage with our students and inspire the next generation of tourism leaders in Oman.

Future[Re]Set: Bringing Gen Z Voices to the Future of Tourism! 🌍

Proud to see three of our students from the German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) — Layal Al Riyami, Dina Al Mohamed, and Youssef Al Harthy — participating in Future[Re]Set, a global youth initiative organised in parallel with the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Global Summit 2026 in Valletta, Malta.

Bringing together nearly 100 students from 40 countries, this initiative provides a unique platform for young people to engage with industry leaders, exchange perspectives, and contribute to shaping the future of travel and tourism.

At the heart of Future[Re]Set is a powerful conviction: the tourism industry needs Gen Z’s insights, creativity, and fresh perspectives just as much as Gen Z needs opportunities to learn, contribute, and lead.

The future of tourism should not simply be designed for the next generation, but shaped with them.

We are delighted to see our students representing Oman and GUtech in this important global conversation!

احتفالًا بـ اليوم العالمي للسياحة 2026 تحت شعار «الأجندة الرقمية والذكاء الاصطناعي لإعادة تصميم السياحة»، نظّم قسم اللوجستيات والسياحة وإدارة الخدمات في الجامعة الألمانية للتكنولوجيا في عُمان برنامجًا امتد على يومين بالتعاون مع ساس للابتكار الرقمي.

في اليوم الأول، زار طلبة IBSM مركز ساس للابتكار الرقمي، حيث تضمّن البرنامج تعريفًا بالمركز والخدمات التي يقدمها، وجلسة حول أهمية الذكاء الاصطناعي لقطاع السياحة، وعرضًا من إحدى الشركات التقنية الناشئة حول الفرص والتحديات في القطاع، إلى جانب جولة في مركز ساس واستوديو الذكاء الاصطناعي.

أما في اليوم الثاني، فقد استضافت الجامعة ورشة تفاعلية قدّمها فريق استوديو الذكاء الاصطناعي ومركز ساس للابتكار الرقمي، ركزت على توظيف الذكاء الاصطناعي في السياحة وربط التطبيقات التقنية بالواقع العملي للقطاع.

وجاءت هذه المبادرة لتعزيز ارتباط الطلبة بالتطورات الحديثة في مجالي السياحة والتقنية، وربط المعرفة الأكاديمية بالتجارب العملية والابتكار الرقمي
