Colegio de San Juan de Letran Bataan Colegio de San Juan de LETRAN BATAAN Rev. Fr. Bataan was chosen. Initially, two sites were presented: Hermosa and Balanga City. The community of St. and Mrs. and Rev.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran - Bataan is a private Roman Catholic institution of learning located along Dominican Avenue in Gabon, Abucay, Bataan. Run and administered by priests in the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans), it is considered as the first Catholic tertiary school in the said province. This school is the third campus of Colegio de San Juan de Letran --after its mother school in Intra

muros Manila (1620) and in Calamba Laguna (1979). Rogelio Alarcon, O.P., former rector and president of Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Intramuros, Manila and an alumnus proposed the idea of having another campus in the north. Abucay came into the picture later, after three years in the conceptualization stage. By what could be described as heavenly intercession and providential twists, Abucay was selected. John Lateran, the Board of Colegio de San Juan de Letran and the Council of the Philippine Dominican Province approved the establishment of Letran-Bataan in 1998. Construction started in 2000 in the 15-hectare area, donated by Mayor and Mrs. Liberato Santiago, Mr. Nicanor Soriano and Gov. Leonardo Roman. A breathtaking view of the Manila Bay and the surrounding mountains, including Mt. Samat, envelope the site. One of the main attractions of Letran-Abucay is its relatively undisturbed natural area and environment. Indeed, an ideal place for study. The site was chosen because of the natural character it projects- a plateau. Architect and environmental planner, Yolanda David Reyes incorporated this in the overall design and conceptual master planning of the campus. Preparations for the establishment of the Letran-Bataan spanned over the terms of three Filipino Dominican provincials: Rev. Quirico Pedregosa, O.P., Rev. Ernesto Arceo, O.P. Edmund Nantes, O.P., an alumnus. Edwin Lao, O.P., former rector and president of Letran-Intramuros spearheaded the over-all construction of the building and the formulation of the guiding principles of the institution. The blessing and inauguration on June 4, 2006 coincided with the gathering of the priors and superiors of the Philippine Dominican Province. Bishop Socrates Villegas, D.D., also an alumnus, officiated the Eucharistic celebration and blessing.

โ€œHi! I am Diane C. Banzon, OIC, Comptroller of Finance Department. Working in Colegio de San Juan de Letran Bataan since 2007 has truly shaped me both professionally and personally. I started as a management staff for the Deanโ€™s office, and through the years, the institution gave me opportunities to grow, learn, and take on greater responsibilities until becoming the OIC of Finance.

Letran Bataan brought out the best in me by teaching me the value of dedication, integrity, and service. It challenged me to become more resilient, adaptable, and solutions-oriented, especially in handling responsibilities related to finance and administration. More importantly, it helped me develop leadership skills, confidence in decision-making, and a stronger sense of accountability.

Beyond work, Letran Bataan also helped me build meaningful relationships and a deeper appreciation for teamwork and community. Being part of the institution for many years made me realize that growth is not only about career advancement, but also about becoming a better person who can contribute positively to others.

The Colegio de San Juan de Letran Bataan community, for me, is like a family. It is a community built on malasakit, commitment, and hardwork. Through the years, I have witnessed how employees, faculty members, administrators, and students work together to uphold the mission and values of the school.

Letran Bataan is not just a place to work or study, but a community that helps shape discipline, faith, and excellence. Dito ko naranasan ang support system ng mga kasamahan ko, as well as the opportunity to continuously learn and grow both professionally and personally.

What makes it even more meaningful for me is that my children are now also studying in Letran. It gives me pride and confidence as a parent knowing that they are part of the same community that has helped shape me for many years. Because of this, Letran Bataan has truly become a very important part of both my personal life and career journey.โ€

My name is Christopher B. Ongoco Jr., currently a 3rd-year Communication Arts student at Colegio de San Juan de Letran Bataan.

Looking back at how my journey began, after I graduated from Senior High School, I knew I wanted a College that would help me grow in more ways than one. I was looking for a place with strong values, a good environment, and a community that truly shapes students into better individuals.

As I was deciding where to study, one of the biggest reasons I chose Letran was because of my brother. Through his journey, I saw how Letran helped mold him into someone more disciplined, confident, and grounded. It made me realize that this school is not only about academics. Itโ€™s about character, growth, and becoming the best version of yourself. That inspired me to follow the same path.

Now that Iโ€™m already in my 3rd year in the Colegio, I can honestly say that choosing Letran was one of the best decisions I made. It gave me experiences that challenged me, people who helped me grow, and memories I will always treasure.

To those students still looking for their chosen college, I would genuinely encourage you to consider Letran. Hindi lang siya school na nagbibigay sayo ng quality education, pero isa rin siyang place na makakatulong sa growth mo bilang tao.

And another thing that I love about Letran is its peaceful campus surrounded by greenery. In the middle of a busy and stressful world, it feels like a place where you can breathe, focus, and find peace while studying. At the same time, mararamdaman mo rin โ€™yung sense of community and guidance from the people around you. Letran helps students become more prepared not just for their careers, but also for life itself. If you want a school where you can grow academically, personally, and emotionally, Letran is the way to go.โ€

On this day, we honor the patron of farmers whose life showed that humble labor, offered in prayer, becomes a holy sacrifice pleasing to God. Like San Isidro, we are called to see Christ in the soil we till and in the daily work that sustains our families and communities.

Near our campus, we have the Chapel of San Isidro Labrador in Hacienda, Abucay, Bataanโ€”a beloved partner community of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Bataanโ€”wherein we give thanks for his intercession over our harvests and for the spirit of bayanihan that unites us.

May his example deepen our faith, strengthen our love for the land, and remind us that every seed planted in trust bears fruit in Godโ€™s time.
