Congratulations to Holy Angel University for producing a film that has been graded A by the country's Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and rated G by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
A CEB grade of A means that the film has met the highest quality standard in filmmaking, and entitles the producer a 100% tax exemption.
An MTRCB rating of G means that viewers of all ages can be admitted in theatres showing it.
The CEB was created through R.A. 9167 to encourage Filipino filmmakers to produce more quality films and increase the international marketability of Philippine cinema. The first movie to be rated by CEB was "Magnifico" back in 2003. It got a rating of "B."
The CEB is composed of 31 members, about 20 of whom come from the movie industry, and the rest from the arts, academe, business and other sectors. The criteria include: direction, screenplay, cinematography, editing, production design, music scoring, sound and acting performances.
The MTRCB, on the other hand, is composed of 32 members. Films are classified either as G (General Patronage), PG (Parental Guidance), R-13 (admission only for 13 years old and above), R-16 (16 years old and above), R-18 (18 years old above) and X (not suitable for public exhibition).
The HAU-produced film is one of the five finalists in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) New Wave, competing for Best Film, Best Director, Best Lead Actor and Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards, and Special Jury Prize. It will be shown in Glorietta 4, Megamall and Robinsons Midtown Manila, on Dec. 17-24.
